Well I’m glad the playing is normal.
I talked to Stella last night and she says that the puppy has been pooping on the floor and she couldn’t understand why it wasn’t doing it outside. I questioned her about the methods she was using, and found out that she was just putting her on a chain and sticking her out the door. Then when the dog would whine to come in, she would let her in and praise, only to find that 5 minutes later the dog had pooped/peed on the floor.
I told her that she would need to accompany the puppy outside and praise as soon as the puppy did what was needed.
I can’t really blame the pup though, I mean come on, it must be hard to go poop in the cold, why would it want to stay out there?
Stella did not seem trilled about the idea of taking the dog out every time, so I don’t really think she is going to do that. She says she will just keep it out longer. DX
She does have a crate, but the puppy is pooping in it.
And after talking to her last night I am done thinking about this hole thing. She has decided to take her cat to the shelter because it, quote “has to go.” and is “peeing on everything.” Never mind that it no doubt it upset about the new puppy. Or that the cat is 3 years old and not fixed.
This kind of thing makes me so mad. It is probably better that we don’t live in the same state.
Thanks for you reply though.

Thanks for all your help. What you said makes sense. It will take some doing and our poor shed will have yet another hole. Lets just hope this is the last one. I really believe Jetta missed her true calling, Sled dog.

I have always heard things like, “dogs can’t be vindictive.” or “dogs can’t premeditate.” And I would think to some extent they can’t. Most likely when people believe that their dog is being vengeful it is just the dog reacting to the situation. And if a dog is truly vengeful I would think that it would have a vary narrow scope, as would the subconscious of a dog. For example, a dog dreams about running, barking, growling, because that is what dogs do. Just as we are more likely to dream of our own worries or daily routines.

My niece, Stella, sent me this video of her son and their new puppy. I cautioned Stella about getting a puppy when she already has her two year old and her 4 month old to care for. And at the time she agreed with me saying “Oh I just want an older dog.” and then she gets this puppy. I tried not to be pushy with my views on the way dogs should be trained but I reminded her that he would need lots of training, to which she replied “Oh the people I got her from says she’s house broke.” At this point I am bitting my tongue to keep from saying “do you really think that is all the training a dog needs?” Stella is not the type of person to listen to anyone but herself so it’s not that I really think I can tell her anything about training. But I thought maybe there is some literature I can send her way in hopes that some of it sinks in. Also I am curious as to weather or not this behavior from a puppy is good. Let me explain what I see in this video. To me it looks like the puppy is doing the same thing to the boy, as my dog Phoebe does to Jetta. Phoebe wants to play so she tries to force Jetta to play with her. Now correct me if I am wrong but wouldn’t that mean that this puppy believes the child is on the same level as she? And if so I am fairly sure that is not good. Here is the video. Then again I could be wrong and this is just normal puppy + child playing. I have never seen a puppy play with a small child before.

Hey everyone, you might remember me from awhile back. I first posted about troubles I was having with my dog Jetta and house training. You people on here were a huge help, so naturally I thought of this site because of another problem I am having, and I’m not sure how to approach fixing it. I have two dogs now and a five month old little girl who they love. Mostly every thing is good, other then the fact, that it feels like I don’t have enough time in the day to even brush my hair. LOL What I was hoping you could help me with was my dog run. I wanted one put in so I would not have to personally take the dogs out, and stay outside with them while they did their business. The run is almost 100 feet long so it really gives them lots of room to sniff and have fun. They seem to love it. Even Phoebe, who hates being outside by herself, likes it. The only problem is that Jetta broke it. She has stretched the line out so much that I had to re-pull it. And yesterday she pulled the huge eye-bolt right out of the shed. The bolt was as big around, and as long as my finger, and I don’t know how of earth she pulled it out. The only thing I can think is she seen a bunny and wanted it very badly. So I was hoping someone could tell me, if they know of anything, I can do to make this work. I know I need a thicker line but is there some kind of locking bolt that I can use. I just thought that maybe someone would know more about making strong dog runs. Or perhaps there is some way I can train Jetta not to pull, even when I am not there to correct her? I wish we could just put up fence, but we do not want to put that kind of money into this property. Thanks, Tammi, Jetta, and Phoebe.

I don't have that ball but I do have a ball much like it. That thing is going in the trash. Thank you for posting this.
Edit: I just looked at the ball I have. It does have a 2nd hole in the other side of the ball, so it can't make a vacuum.

Thinks K9, for the reply. You know, when they were telling me all that stuff I was just taking it with a grain of salt. I was thinking to myself, “sure, if she is house trained then why is she jumping all over me, like she almost never gets off a chain?” but then I thought, here this dog is, just out of the cute puppy stage and if she goes to a shelter her chances of getting a home are not good. I work from home so I have the time to work with her. So here I am. And you know if I had the chance I would take her again. And something that is funny. My fiance told me, when had just met him, that he didn’t like dogs. . He such a sucker for Jetta. But I kinda new he liked them because of the way he acted with his moms dog. Just a week in to me having her. He heard me calling Jetta “my dog” and he was like “well she is kinda my dog too.” He didn’t get why that made me so happy. So I just told him I was glad that he likes her. Boy am I glad. And as for this web sight I love it. It is a good thing what you peeps are doing here.

Hi everyone. As you can see my name is Tammi I am 21 years old. My dog’s name is Jetta, it means Black Gem. I got her from a free ad in the paper. She was 9 months old at the time. And almost everything her ex-owners said about her was not true. They said she was house broke, and leash trained. They said she did not chase cats. HA HA HA she will chase anything that moves. As for house breaking, well we are working on that. And about her on a leash, she tries to drag me around the yard. Well she is doing much better now, and I love her.

So sad. I remember seeing something where they had dingo bodies strung on that long fence line. I thought they put up that fence to keep the dingos out? But I don’t know much about it.
