This may be a silly question, but do you feed the dog in his bowl in the house.
And do they eat it all up right away?

So what will you do in the summer heat?

In the summer I still be feeding outside but devide his meals into two. This way he will be able to consume them in a short time and I dont have to worry about fly's etc... dumping their waste on his food. I have thought to about taking him in the basement to eat but we will see how it goes. Now just because he is outside eating, I still do handle him etc... I want him to still understand that what I give you I will and can take away. He has never been food aggresive even with the raw anyone can take anything out of his mouth and he never even puts up a fuss. ;D

I feed the RMBs outside and then when I feed ground stuff or organs or whatever I put it in bowls in the kitchen - they eat it right away and they go right into the dishwasher.
I don't think I am worried about flies because I give just one thing at a time any way because I have two dogs and I don't want scuffles or hoarding over stuff laying around.
And in the summer I probably won't even bother to thaw the stuff first!

That's a good way to give your dogs a bath after eating, Amyjo!!!!! No way will I feed the large pieces of RMB's in the house either!!! This winter if the weather was really nasty outside, I just fed chicken for a couple of meals and chopped it into mouth sized chunks and fed it in their bowls. Not the ideal way to feed and you wouldn't want to do it all the time, but occassionally in bad weather it's fine. Even in hot weather I just give it to them outside one piece at a time, as Amyjo says. I have never had a problem, because my dogs eat everything right away....no worries about *hoarding* around here! ;D Once in awhile they will keep a bone and dig it up later, so I just pick it up after they chew on it awhile and throw it away.

A teaspoon of vinegar in the final rinse helps with fleas AND leaves your crystal sparkling. More time-savings tips in my new book "Have a Pet and a Life, in less than 10 minutes a day" out soon.

Oh Hell... I resisited it, I rationalized it and I just can't continue in good consiousness to feed kibble to my cat. (Thanks alot Tom Lonsdale! ) Anyway I was worried it would be gross and he would drag stuff all over the house (he is 100% indoor kitty) anyway I blocked him in a dead end hallway with a laminate floor ( I love baby gates) he ate half a chicken wing and jumped the gate and left the rest - didn't make a mess and I am pretty happy so far - we shall see! As for the dogs.... all is well - they are both due for yearly heart worm tests and vaccs. I have decided that I am going to tell my vet I want to go to a three year cycle for parvo and distemper like we already do for rabies... That gives me 2 years breathing room and pleanty of time for research. (the lady who boards them wants me to continue bordatella tho..) I am also going to have a heart to heart with my vets about the raw feeding - I am just going to tell them - this is what I am doing, they cannot change my mind...I will ask for open minds if not support and offer to find another vet if it isn't forthcoming.

You are a true and complete convert Amyjo!! Bravo for you!! As for the Bordatella, you can do an intranasal a week or two before you board instead of a yearly injection. I am not sure on the exact time it takes to be effective but I don't think it is longer than 10 days.

Yep... I am a true convert! I will try not to act like a complete freak about it but i am serious - that book changed my whole outlook, shook my world, shifted my paradigm - what ever!
I was already impressed with the visible benefits of raw feeding - but now I have much bigger and clearer picture of the whole processed vs. natural food debate and I will NEVER go back!
On a totally personal and subjective note - Elvis (who has been looking a leeeetle thin lately got a 2 pound pork shoulder on Saturday... It was frozen through and he worken on it for well over an hour - the whole time looking at me like I was some kind of goddess... and after he was done - it was like he was sooo happy ( almost high) dancing around and acting like a freak. He even jumped on me! Now normally I wouldn't be happy about a dog jumping on people - but he is 12 ( a little stiff in the hind quarters) and hasn't jumped on anybody in about 8 years! I'll take that anyday ;D
