I know, I know, I should be able to find a dog trainer by myself. But I have looked and asked around, and come up with zip, nada. Let me explain. I just moved to Lewistown PA in November of last year, so I don’t know my way around the whole town yet. I am new to driving so I’m not to good at it yet. My fiance is legally blind so he cant help much. When I got my dog I had thought there was a dog trainer here in town but now I am not so sure. I have looked in the Yellow Pages and on Google but came up with nothing. I will ask the vet but my dogs next appointment isn’t for quite some time yet. Can anyone tell me how to find a dog trainer??? PS and hopefully not so far away that I cant find it.[

I have never used a prong or choke collar. Here is a question, what was the choke made for?

Wow this helps me out a lot. My dog pulled so much that yesterday she broke her leash when we were at the park, she almost broke my arm too. She is a 38 lb dog and the leash was for 100lbs. Needles to say I was a little shocked when it happed. Maybe I could get a prong collar to help me until I can get some training for her.

Ok here is what I think, now let me tell you I am not dog expert. I but I did have a young puppy that cried at night. First of all, think of your puppy as a baby. Babies will wake up in the night. He is probably scared because he doesn’t know where you are. I gave my puppy one of my pillows because it smelled like me and I put a ticking clock in it. The clock was a rhythmic noise, so it puts babes to sleep. Just like their mommas heartbeat. Also do you take the puppy out in the night? Maybe he has to go potty?

Hey everyone I just wanted to let you know that my dog (Jetta) is doing well. She has had only one accident (that was my fault) since I stopped her free range of the house. She is just so smart. I am teaching her to stay and wait for me to release her. On the third try I could see that when I put her in “stay” she just like “Oh boy, oh boy, I know what to do.”

I have asked this same question on three dog forums and your are the only one that noticed that my dog is 10 months old. Once a lady told my that puppies cant hold there pee for a long time. I just thought to myself, oh wow I didn’t know that! NOT! But I just told her think you. And kept looking for more help. And I have read more dog training info pages then I can count. And not one of them said anything about baby gates. I guess I should have thought of it myself. But you know how sometimes you cant see the forest for all the trees.

Think you for commenting. I will try some Baby gates and see if that helps. I have a big old house and I didn’t think of keeping her in just one room. Also at what point in her training should I expect her to try and tell me she needs out?

Ok here it is, my dog is 10 moths old and I have had her for about five weeks and I love her she is a sweet, well tempered dog. The kind that will fallow you around and sleep at you feet. But she just wont hold her poop, and pee. 95% of the time she will go poop or pee, when I take out, and I always pat and rub her saying “good girl!” But I have to do it almost every hour or she will go on the carpet. Then she will act guilty and I know what she did, if I haven’t smelled it already. I know she can hold it because she holds it in her crate. I am at my wits end. I have tried a bell on the door so she could tell me that she needed to go out. She would just ring it, and I would take her out, and wait with her for a good 15 minutes but she wouldn’t do anything. If I see her at the door I always take her out, and 75% of the time she will go. But other thin that I am just guessing when she has to go. I have her food on a schedule I would scold her for going potty on the floor if I seen her do it, but she is so sneaky that, in all this time of having her I have only seen her do it once.

My sister has three dog’s one of them a 6 month old male named Samson. And he is starting to miss behave. She lives on a farm and loves all her dogs but Samson is starting to get a big head, so to speak. I have read her the NILIF article and she says she will start that but I was hoping there would be something more she could do. She lives in the mettle of nowhere KS, so there isn’t anything in the way of dog training were she is. Samson is a big Black Lab German shepherd mix. And he is becoming too pushy. She called me because yesterday he acted aggressive to a her other dog at mealtime. He knows how to sit and down. But he is outside so much that I was hoping someone here could help me think of ways to implement the NILIF training on him. More then just at mealtime or at play. She says he will always push the other dogs out of the way when playing, feeding and petting. He even took a carrot away form the goat, because he seen my Sis give it to the goat. Also this is what I think she should do at mealtimes. Tie him up or have him on a leash so he can’t get to the other dogs. Then give him his food when he sets for her. Would that make sense? Thx for reading

I know it’s not funny. And I’m sure it would have freaked me out.
But the way you wrote it was so funny! I just read it to my fiancé.
I’m sure the owner has his own version, where this psycho lady hit his dog for no reason. It probably goes something like this.
“All little Chico did, was bark at her, and she hit him with a shower head.” “She kicked him when I accidently dropped him.” “Thought the nut was going to go after me, but she ran off.”
But I digress, I would have done the same thing. And maybe that dog will think twice before he tries to bite someone else.

Way cool! That is so neat, what you did. I’m sure you reached a lot of people with your flyers, and even more since you made the paper. Good job!
