If anyone gets any emails requesting you to visit another forum I would suggest not visiting the link. A couple of us visit Dogomainia which is believed to be hacked and their server is considered to be infected with a virus. It seems as though someone stole information from this site as well. I believe my virus protection and firewall is pretty top notch secure but you never know.
Make sure your virus protection is updated. I have norton live update but you have to visit the site every once and awhile to get the updates that need your computer to re-boot. It won't automatically update those.
Here is an email that I recieved. I did not visit the links due to the coincidental wierd things going on with trolls and bugs/glitches and server issues/malfunctions at Dogo. I highly suggest if you recieve any odd emails that you don't open them or visit any links.

I am in the middle of a conversation stating that others have gotten this email and visited the link but there are actually no animal related forums there and god knows whether these people picked something up visiting their site.
Laura do you still have the information from the email? Is it the same or different than what I posted?

....so please don't open anything from my em address till I can figure this out! Thanks guys! Richard, any hints on how to stop it ? Hi there...sadly there is no way to really fix the problem other than changing your email address....once these idiots get your email address, there is not much you can do except change it and remove it from your email program..then notify everyone that you've changed. Another tip is to not keep your email regulars on the computer....make a hard copy (I'm doing this now) and don't have the ones in your address book handy... I've had the misfortune of someone using my yahoo account to send spam, twice....they can take your name and stick it front of a yahoo account or hotmail...so if I open it up, it will show that it came from you and then I get mad that you're spamming me....its a very very nasty game these idiots play...spam, trojans (which are harder to detect and cause more problems), viruses....its made going on the internet soooo difficult...my taskbar on my computer looks more like a war zone: zone alarm, norton antivirus, the cleaner (a trojan protection program), my fire wall in my router (and if you don't have a router, even with a single computer on a highspeed cable or dsl....get one..the firewall protection is the best...unless you go with a separate program)....it is imparative as Brooke said, to keep your virus program up to date....and back up all your important data often...if your system gets euchered and you have to reformat, having backups makes the process a little less painful. Interestingly enough, I spent this afternoon chasing down a trojan virus off my computer that was doing some nasty things along the lines of flooding my computer (and others possibly) with requests...what it does is slow down the entire system..anyway, I found a very nice program to clean it out called The Cleaner..yes, I did find a whole bunch of these suckers...I know where they came from too....and it is probably my fault. I got this nice form letter from our cable company telling me there was a problem with my computer flooding the network with requests ..its called SYN TCP flooding...something along the lines of the DOD - Denile of Service attacks you hear about... As for viruses, don't open attachments where you don't know the sender. Make sure your virus program scans emails. Sadly, unless someone you know is sending you clean stuff, you really cannot trust too many out there anymore. I even saw someone spoof our local cable companies email to the customers saying to open this email attachement for a fix for the spam problem....the real problem was is that there was a trojan virus in the zip file and a lot of anti-virus programs don't scan them...if you have zone alarm, you can set it up to not open these types of programs. One last point. There is a really nice program out there called MailWasher...it lets you see the emails on the mail server before you bring them down to your computer...you can also see which ones are spam and bounce them back so they don't return...you can create a hit list persay as well for that...just another way to keep the crap off your computer. Sorry, I sorta went all over there, but like everything else in life, even the internet needs to be watched over closely....

I had a period where occassionally I would get an em saying I sent an infected em to someone, but I didn't know the person and certainly didn't send them an em. It would have an attachment with it, but of course, I never opened the attachment. I contacted my server and sent them the em's, and they said it most probably was someone who spammed my em addy to send virus's and said to NOT open the attachments. They also try to block such stuff and now I haven't had any in a long time and my computer comes up clean.
They also said a good place to get a virus is from downloading programs etc. from the internet and not to do it....and you know those annoying popups? Most of us have *popswatter* or something now to prevent them, but they said don't ever click onto a message asking if you want to stop the popups, because that will give them your em address.

Ok, I cleaned house, so to speak. Ran every cleaner, washer, bug squasher, anti viral program I had, everything came up clean, so e-mail from me may be opened safely ;D!
