I was wondering what are some of the toys and games you play with your dog?
My dogs favorite toy is definitely his tug rope!! We also play Search....in this game i hide his toys, my shoe or i have him stay and i hide......then i send or call him and say search...he then tries to find whatever i hide. He's pretty good at it. We live on 10 acres so we can do it outside which adds a challenge.

Peeka LOVES her tug rope toy over anything and everything. She plays with it constantly. We've been lucky because she hasn't really been distructive with anything and loves her toys. She's pretty good about sticking to that. (Don't know how we got so lucky in that category with her.)
As for Kuma...she loves balls. Especially her big squeeky one that is part fuzzy part rubber. She loooves squeeky toys. She used to have a super high pitched annoying squeeky newspaper toy and she was soooo funny with it for the longest time. It was a lot more squeeky and the noise lasted longer and more high pitched than most newspaper toys that are sold. She used to run over to it and use her front paws repeatedly bouncing on it for long periods of time (It drove me NUTS)...she used to sit and continually bounce on it and then turn and look at me and just whine.
The thing used to scare her at first because the squeek was so loud and high pitched. I don't know if she thought there was an animal stuck in it or what but she used to cry when I'd squeek it. It turned into her favorite until my mom's kids ruined it by jumping on it till the squeeker popped out last summer.
Kuma will play with Peeka with the tug but I have a hard time getting Kuma to tug with me. She gives up really easily if I even can get her to tug and it's usually only if Peeka is tugging with her against me.
Peeka however can pull me acrossed the floor.

Finn likes a squeaky, furry toy to be thrown for him to pounce on. He has a large stuffed duck that he will chase and chew on with particular delight. I often use small squeaky toy rats as training toys, especially in Agility. Anything that approximates hunting and killing the ONLY things he'll play with. He's very destructive of these, rips them apart and breaks the squeaker, de-furs them and loses interest once they are " dead". Finn ignores a ball of any kind, in fact, most toys leave him flat. It took the LONGEST time to get him interested in any kind of toy at all. He doesn't 'carry' as a natural behavior, and I think he missed the "play" window in his development. I can get him to latch onto a bite tug, and I lift him up and swing him around the room, but I try not to do this too much as it excites the mouthiness in him. Sailor loves rope tugs, nothing leaves her happier than a good game of tug, and if there's no one to tug with her, she'll toss them up in the air and catch them. When Finn first arrived, Sailor tried her hardest to get Finn to play with her toys with her, no luck, he's just not a toy boy. She likes hide and seek with the toys; I've also taught her toy distinction between a few of them. I put three toys at the other side of the room, and get her to retrieve the one I've asked for. Sailor likes this toy, too. It's heavy, but she'll shake and chase it and retrieve it past the point of exhaustion. I think actually she'd play with air if nothing else was provided.

Aussienot, they sell a toy called a critter something or other. It looks like a furry rat and when you squeeze the voice box inside it, it makes all different kinds of critter noises. I have one and it is great. It is very real looking and sounding. Finn would love it. Reign thought it was real. He would sniff it, whine, nuzzle it. He wasn't a destructive chewer so he didn't "kill" it. Reign loves any toy that makes noise. Not a squeak but either talking or weird noises. I still have his puppy toys because he never destroys them. You would laugh if you saw how many toys I had. He loved balls too and we played find the toy, treat and me and tug and fetch. He would play any game. Petey loves any soft noisy toy. He runs around with the toy making all kinds of growling noises and does zoomies with it. He doesn't like rubber toys like the kong though. He loves fetch and just to run. I haven't taught him to find anything yet, but I will.

Peeka used to have a thing for stuffed animals too before we gave her her first rope tug. I couldn't let her walk down the toy isle at petsmart because she'd snatch one as we'd walk by lol. When I'd go to put it back she'd snatch another one. It was pretty funny. I couldn't let her have them because Kuma would chew them up within 5 minutes . Peeka doesn't really chew them up, she just carries them everywhere or plays tug with them. I wish they made an indestructable stuffed toy.

My dogs favorite toys are EACH OTHER . Nothing gets them going better than a hearty game of what John calls "grab-ass", biting each other, rolling around, generally making total fools of themselves. Other than that, plush toys are a no-no around here, but they love retrieving a Kong ball (one at a time, makes for a good training excercise, too), and Loki loves a toy similar to the one Aussie has, ball on a rope thingy. Unfortunately, I had to take it away from him, he kept shaking it hard by one end only, and it was smacking him hard in the head, brain damage would have occured had he been allowed to continue .

Brain damage would explain a lot about Sailor's behavior! Sweet, but not the sharpest knife in the block. Speaking of sweet, and kinda weird, I had a message on my answering machine tonight from Elizabeth, the lovely old lady who volunteers at the RSPCA shop. They've just recieved a shipment of fuzzy squeaky toys, and she's set aside a wonderful selection for Finn that she thinks he'll enjoy. She's never called me before, except one time when something I special ordered had arrived, so I thought that was special. And the timing was kind of spooky.

What will be really weird is if she has the furry critter waiting for you!!

Kacy's fav is a buddy ball. She pokes one hole in it so it deflate and then inflates. She'll carry it around for ages. Eventually she'll destroy it, but it could take months.
