Well, everyone. We have been here before!
There are two litter's of puppies in the paper. BC's and Aussies!!!
I WANT A PUPPY, but I am so afraid it will be too much for me! Yes, I have a crate. Yes, I have an outdoor kennel if needed. So WHAT IS MY PROBLEM?
Does anyone else go through this? I always used to just go get the puppy and worry about it later. It always worked out, but the older I get, the more scared I get.
What say y'all?
Ann.....if you go with me to pick one out............!!!! ;D

I have come to my senses, and boy! Is my hubby glad! He said at least I am learning and although I say, "puppy, puppy, puppy", at least I don't go and actually get one now!!! At night when my two "angels" are sleeping and all is quiet I think...."What is so hard about having dogs?" And if, at that time, there should appear an add in the paper for my favorite breed(s) I just know I can do it and I have to get one of those puppies! By morning, after a night when one or both dogs want "out" at 2 am and although I am sure it is just because they remember they left a bone in the yard, or they hear the neighbor cat in their territory, I have to get up and let them out just "incase" they really have to go!!!! Seldom is that the case, and when I am awaken at 6 a.m. all bleary eyed from being woke up at 2 a.m., my first thought is...."ARE YOU CRAZY? What were you thinking last night about wanting a PUPPPY of all things!!!" It also helps to call about the puppies and hear them all barking in the background, or have the breeder tell you, trying to be heard above the barks of 6-8 little sharp voices, "I have to hang up! The puppies are harrassing my older dog and he's getting annoyed"! That brings me down to earth in a hurry! I am glad that has passed once again. No, Ann. Neither one of us need a puppy right now!!! Take a deep breath and tell yourself..."this will pass". ;D I think we should start a "puppy anonymous" for people like us!

Oh, how I wish I had your self control. Puppy fever hits me HARD, I tell ya. I'm seeing all of these lovely little Border Collie puppies being born, and I swear a part of my sanity leaves me with each one I see.. Hopefully my girl will be born this Spring, but even that seems like a long wait. Puppy anonymous wouldn't be a bad idea.

Once it's under your skin, puppy fever won't go away..it just waits until another weak moment and WHAM, you'll start thinking about it again!
Consider this the eye of the puppy fever storm and hang on cuz the feeling will surely come around again sooner than later!!
Note: I am guilty of wanting another GSD so my comments above apply to me equally as well!
I think our puppy's anonymous group should meet on Tuesdays - everyone check your date books!!

I think you are right, Richard....about it just coming back again. Yesterday when I had Buddy at my groomer she was telling me she has 11 dogs (Goldens, and Doxies which she used to show) and was thinking of raising another litter of Doxies. She said her husband almost had a stroke. Besides this she is a very busy groomer, although she is trying to phase that part out, and only takes her "regulars" now. She also has a boarding kennel.....and she either is close to my age or just looks it from all the work/stress! I asked her how she does it all, because her place is spotless, with absolutely no "kennel smell". She said she not only loves it and would have 100 dogs if she could, but you also just get up in the morning and do it as a matter of routine. That's where she lost me. I do not like the words "routine" or "schedule". Anyhow...I think Tues. would be a good day for our "puppy anonymous" group to meet, but I do have one concern. How long before we all convince each other we can handle another dog/puppy? p.s. The Aussie Rescue just took in a gorgeous 10 mo. BTM (black tri male), and Sheri said he is a dream of a dog. Of course, to some people that can mean a "nightmare".

That is why I can not read the ads in the paper for puppies. While Jake is still a puppy and work I ALWAYS want to take more home.
I do know that when he is a little older ( a year or so) we are going to get another dog.

Be strong! Make a list of all the bad things that come with a puppy. Do not, I repeat do not, make a list of the good things.
