We bought a Lacrosse stick today for launching balls quite far. I have a bone tired Austrailian Shepard on my hands - which ain't easy to do...So if you have a hyper dawg - I highly reccommend it! That dog is so smart it's spooky - On the second toss hubby had her bringing the ball back and dropping it right in the net...Whatta girl!

My shoulder has never fully recovered from the break/dislocation last year so when ever I throw it is either left handed or underhanded (both of which result in extreamley lame distances) so it was really fun for me to be able see those pooches FLY after something I threw! Nicki - she is a smart girl but I have a hard time getting her to do cool stuff unless the payoff is big...for instance I have been working with her to drop her toys in a basket in the livingroom - she will only do this about 25% of the time - she will drop that ball in the lacrosse net EVERY time...( I shoulda never got a dog that was smarter than me )

I have never felt so inadequate as a *dog trainer* as since I got Kerra! I can show her how to do something once and she's got it nailed, but if I forget, which I often do, and use a firm commanding voice on her...Uh Uh, forget it. She's having none of that serious stuff!!! She quits on me. I just got an idea and wonder why I didn't think of it before!!! I am going to ask the breeder of Aussie's who has umteen titles on her dogs, how she trains them, because she told me you can't *drill* them or they shut down. I'll let you know what she has to say.

See that is what I was talking about with the easy stuff. Once Blade gets something he acts like he is being punished if we drill. Now I still don't think he is 100% proofed even HE DOES That is why I started adding a few diffrent things to normal drilling. When we do our basics, instead of the usual treat for complience sometimes I add a squeaky toy, or sometimes ball on a rope. I have to keep changing the structure to keep his attention, and to keep it fun. I have also been working on hand signals instead of always using verbal commands which makes him pay even more attention. Clown Like this boy of mine but EXTREMLY SMART. Amy remember when I called you and told you about the Little Tykes Toys? They work GREAT!
