You've just done the best thing you could do for yourself Laura (other than giving yourself a weekend Spa!!)....take it one day at a time, know your triggers and keep busy....you can do it!
And the weekend Spa thing...that will be your reward if you stay smoke free for six months.....sounds fair to me!!
As for being all those things you said, I doubt you'll get more than a little grumpy when you don't have that first smoke of the day (whenever that could be).....then you can come here and growl your way around the posts and feel better when you're done!!!
I quit 23 years ago this March 18th (yeah, I remember the day....) so you can do it too!
Ok enough pep talk....get it on!!

That's great Laura!!! I quit in October of 1976!!!! It's hard, but can be done if you really, really want to. I had *quit* many times before then, but always went back to it. I was smoking when our kids were at home yet and I feel so awful now when I think of the years of exposing them to that 2nd hand smoke!!! They would complain, esp. when we were in the car, and I would tell them to *be quiet*. Now I keep apologizing and grovelling to them. ;D Nicki!!!!! Listen to your elder's....you stop that smoking right now!!!! ;D Second hand smoke is not good for our pets, either!

I know!! I am a closet smoker. I never smoke in the house or the car because I don't want to pollute my doggie!! or Brian. We'll see. I have to REALLY want to and I am not there yet. I sort of enjoy it. But Laura quitting is giving me inspiration.

Phooey, I'm ready to sell the kids for a ciggarette, and stick a fork in my thigh to stop the craving. :(My husband better love me when I'm 300 lbs. 'cause that's where I'm headed with all the gum and candy I've ingested today. C'mon Nicki, quit with me ;D! We can bitch and blow up together !

Yikes!! I don't know if I can quit just yet. What would I do all day? I am not working yet and I would clearly go completely insane. When I am working I can go all day without smoking because I have no choice... That's great that you are quitting too Sibemom. Laura are you using the patch, or gum or morphine..... ;D

I understand Nicki. You have to pick the right time. I am doing it "Cold turkey" because I know that is the best way. I will have the fridge stocked with a few" Bud Lights" just in case. I am not a drinker but it might take the edge off. Now my poor hubby is doing this too, he is not a closet smoker he is a hard core. With his hep C he has tried so hard even using the Zyban because he knows to get healthy he has to, but it did not work. I told him Just do it, like Nike. ;D
