Hello all! I know a couple people here from another forum! I've come to gather some training into on my very shy and unsocialized Corgi. I've already posted my question in the training beahvior secion.
I'm a 22 year old vet assistant in Illinois. I have an almost 3 year old deaf Boston Terrier. I rescued her when she was 5 weeks old, the breeder thought she was better off dead, so I took her. I've done all of her obedience training by myself, she is definitely a joy to work with. She and I have been in agility now for about 6 months and she is doing amazingly well! I can't wait until we are ready to compete! She also just passed her CGC and TDI! SO we are getting ready to start therapy work.
I'm now working on socializing my new little Corgi. She's sweet at pie and things are going pretty smoothly with her. I just need some help! So here I am! And I hope to get some great info here.

I'm impressed with what you've been able to accomplish with your deaf Boston. Great work. Agility is difficult enough with sound, being totally visual puts pressure on you as the handler to be perfect. Her having a disability could be a positive in therapy work, depending on where you get placed. Some of the people could relate to her better because of it.
Your Corgi has some issues to overcome, but glad you are there to help with them. Welcome to the board.

Thanks for the welcome everyone!!
Aussienot: Thank you. I have worked very very hard with Divina. It also helps a lot that she is a smart dog and willing to work hard, I love that! She is my first deaf dog, but certainly not my last, and certainly not my last agility dog either! It's defintely addicting. I really like the challenge of training and it can be so rewarding. Divina probably knows about 25 signs. When we started agility she had a different sign for each obstacle but now I just point or use my body to push or pull her where I want her to go. She's incredibly smart and usually gets what I want, and if she doesn't it's usually my fault...
Cori is really coming along nicely, I just need a little direction! I'm so glad I'm here to learn more. Can anyone tell me how to post pics?? I'm not very computer savvy so I need it explained like I'm a 3 year old! Thanks!!
