Have gotten my feet wet, and wanted to give a proper hello to everyone I enjoy your community and the boards very much it's a great place. In a nut shell , am one for being fascinated in natural behaviors as much as I am fascinated in how much you can bend the rules of natural behaviors through conditioning. I love spontaneious antics am one to laugh first for an individual being creative take a step back and look at myself for another way to present it lol.. Silly Human. Tons of wonderful stories and experiences learning from my crew is never ending and always endearing. " I was teaching the new pups when they got tall enough how to open doors by turning the door knobs" Thought using the door to the room to the laundry room that has the dog door in it would make it easy to set the motivation for the pup to work at learning the new obsticle so he could go outside" something he already knew. Well he did, not by turning the door knob as I was showing him, I said "open" lets go out side I pointed to the door knob and Tabe looked at me and jumped right up on the door ripping it right off the frame when the door fell to the floor he walked over it and out the dog door.. lol lol WELL NOW lol He did do what I ask LOL (grin) Hmmm lol maybe a different approach is needed start with something not connected to the structure of the house for him. lol ;D You gotta LOVE THEM !!!!!! Look forward to getting to know everyone ;D [/imhttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v472/Rowanstar/Pups.jpgg]

Welcome to the board, Rowan. You've single-handedly upped the GSD share of board by about 700%. Thanks for the posts so far.

Thanks I can alway count on everyone working together in an emergency. Seems when I really need it from them they do it. Terrible storm I couldn't take it no more I ran out into the rain at night and opened everyones out door kennels where we use to live and just said "house" everyone ran to the house. I stayed up all night with a propane lantern watching over all of them sleeping on the futon together and not a disagreeable peep from any of them despite their differences. Funny thing was when the lights came on I thought there was something strange and I was right my mentors two girls had snuck down to the basement and were also now on the futon with all my group lol... Everyone is intact, and not everyone sincerely likes each other lol. I definetly would not trust certain dogs (males) loose with each other without supervison. My girls are great no trouble with them as a group Thank goodness LOL.. Think female fights would be the worse to have to worry about and I don't have to they are inseperable. I try to keep our house hold like a training center everyone is there to do a job and it helps to develope a different atmosphere amongst them. The pups are raised by the group from whelp but need to be provided their own individual space around 11/2 years old when the transition from puppy to young adult is strong, after 6 to 8 months they are better equipt as individuals to come back into the group. Thanks again !!!

Thanks, look forward to learning about everyone's breed as well. As far as the lines Lots of Stuttgart's, Lockwood, Covy's, Rohans, and Caprice with a dash of this and that of some favorites. I adore them all so very much from the old reviews my mentor has from the begining of time lol.... I really love Majors sire's male side doing a structure study 6 generations the structure is so simular and Major has produced very strongly in the male pups to spitting images of him and those that came before him. Grandsire CH Laurel's You Can Call me All CD not a very well known dog or the kennels but am proud to have them in him. His Ganddam on his dam's side is Stuttgart's Roxi she is the last living Stuttgart's Sundance Kid daughter still living that we know of she is going on 16 this year and still just as fisty as ever lol.... I truly wish my mentor would submit to the AKC for the 13 club certificates most of her dogs have lived beyond 13 minds and body's so strongly still intact. When they are ready to pass they have gone quickly. Even if it was 100 years you will never be prepared for it. LOL it is what I tell my Smokey he will be 18 years old Oct 8th, Sammy cross I found in the middle of the road in FL as an 8 month old pup. Tell him all the time not to mind me I would cry no matter what, that when he is ready to go I will understand but I will still cry lol ...... It's been a wonderful journey for me, one that will stay with us forever...

Oh, what a beautyful pack - I really have a soft spot for shepherds of all kinds. Such bright faces they have. Your story about dogs opening doors reminded me: we used to have a boxer, Nomsa, (Xhosa for "princess") who taught herself to open doors, windows and gates. Very inconvenient. We finally decided to give her to the people we got her mom from as she just kept getting out of our yard. These people live on a farm and keep a dog boarding kennel there. Apparently one day Nomsa was strolling around and got the bright idea to try her door opening skills on all the pens where the boarding dogs were being kept. They could be opened from the outside by a bright dog, as it turns out. So she went from pen to pen, and then lead the whole pack on a long romp around the farm. Not so funny for the kennel owners, I'm sure! But welcome!
