I am a 30 yr old single grrl with two rescue mutts. I've had Duncan for 2.5 yrs. he's around 4 yrs old now and just starting to settle down. he is a super loveable mix of husky and beagle? ? don't really have any clue, but that's what his vet records say. he is a bit too bonded to me, but he is amazingly smart. I'm afraid i'm not letting him live up to his full potential. Miles is classic second dog. the thinking being somewhere along the lines of "the first dog is so wonderful, wouldn't 2 be twice as nice?" HAH! He is about a year and a half old, and I've had him since May. He's come with many many problems? issues? quirks? to work through, but also a lot of love and happiness. He's not quite sure whether he wants to be a GSD or a big big terrier. Every day is different with Miles, and I never know what mischief he'll get into. Today we had to go to the emergency vet for stitches. He is now officially the thing that I've spent the most money on besides my house and car. I'm always looking for new and better ways to interact with my dogs, and from what I've seen, you all seem to have quite a bit of experience to share.

Welcome to the board! ;D I can't wait to hear more about you all and hopefully see some pictures. I'd like to know more about the mischief Miles is getting into. As I say to everyone else... don't be shy!

Thanks, you guys. I always feel like I'm talking about my dogs too much, so maybe I can let it out here now. Miles and his mischief...sigh. He is a big time escape artist. It took me a few days to figure out he was going under the fence. Not digging, just finding a spot where he could push his way through. Running out the gate when I opened it. He also started to scratch through the window screens. My next door neighbor caught him one day hanging out of a window on the second floor, thankfully her yelling at him stopped him that day. So, I had to replace the window screens with "pet proof" screening (black, not gray like the rest of my screens, so they all had to be done). After that he just popped out the whole thing to escape, instead of messing with all that pesky scratching through. Very very annoying because I have no AC, and have to shut the majority of the windows when I'm not home. And then there is all the typical bad doggie behavior. Eating the entire top of one of my tennis shoes, eating not chewing. Getting into the cupboard and eating a whole bag of ready cooked rice and a bag of coffee grounds!!! There was a mess that night, and not a lot of sleep to be had either. Killing birds and rabbits in the yard. Using the flower garden as both salad bar and toilet (all non toxic plants as far as I've been able to find). And on and on........... He's a nut, but he's just so darn cute.
