Hello I've been lurking around this forum trying to read most of the threads, but figured I should at least introduce myself. It's obvious that everyone here really loves their dogs, and it's great to see so many people so willing to help others and share their experience. I've also really enjoyed the acceptance of different training methods - it's rare to find a place where different methods can be discussed. So, thanks for that, and I hope I can somehow contribute to the healthy discussions already going on. I have a two year old english springer spaniel named Cooper, and he's my first dog. My experience is obviously limited, but he's taught me a lot and we thoroughly enjoy learning together. We're currently training to compete in flyball (more training needed on my part than his) and having a whole lot of fun. Here he is at our first demonstration - Here's another one of him at the beach - I hope I get to know everyone better, and learn more about all of your dogs.

Thanks for the welcome It must have been a lot of fun to grow up with mulitiple springers. Coop's a bench springer rather than a field spaniel, so he would likely make a terrible hunter (not that the seagulls ever have to know that ) but he does enjoy a good tennis ball water retrieve. I'm sure your dad's springers would have been excellent flyball candidates - all of the springers I've seen race are always overjoyed, ears flying and all.

Those are such great pictures! Coop is so beautiful. He looks like he has a very energetic nature. I found a pregnant spaniel not too long ago that we couldn't find the owners of. I'll have to post pictures. I got to go out to the town he lives in and help with the birth. It was such an amazing experience. She's gorgeous as well. I think she's a mix. She actually looks like a yellow Welsh Springer Spaniel with a full tail. My mothers boyfriend ended up keeping her and he adopted out the pups. She is such a great dog. She has a very high prey drive and loves rides on the go cart. She will stay on the cart all day till he takes her on a ride. This is a guy who told me to keep my dogs outside 24-7 when I stayed with my mom He's never been a big fan... and she is now the most spoiled thing you'd ever know. He goes everywhere with her. I can't believe ho much he loves her after how anti-dog he has always been. She is a really good dog though. I think she's kind of special anyway. She had some issues at first... in fact she didn't have a collar or anything so I'm wondering if she was dropped along the highway but she's doing really good now. I really have to post pictures. I can't believe I never got around to it. So much going on this year. I'm kinda air headed sometimes. I even have pictures of the birth day Anywho... welcome to the board ;D I really look forward to seeing more of you hopefully.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome, and the springer stories! She sounds like an awesome spaniel, I love the look of the full tail. What a great dog, too, to change the mind of an anti-dog person. I'll be looking forward to seeing those pictures, she sounds like such a striking pooch. Here's Coop with his litter and an exhausted mom (I have no idea which one he is, sorry) -

Hello and welcome to the board FourPaws . Cooper is beautiful pupper, and it's nice to have a Spaniel person on the board too, and one who does flyball at that! As you can see, we're a pretty diverse bunch here, and as Rocky put it, we play nicely in the sand box together despite differing opinions and training styles ;D. Looking foward to seeing you on the boards!

Yes, welcome aboard! Thanks for the great pictures.
He really is a good looking dog. Looks like a real character too. And I must say, he seems to be having a GREAT life. Beach, flyball, the lot! Thats so great - I sometimes think a lot of the pleasure in having a pet is that you can make their lives enjoyable for them. Dogs are so positive!

Thanks Aussie and Masha It seems like a lot of people here enjoy canine sports with their dogs - I love all of Finn's agility stories and the picture of him jumping is just beautiful I sometimes think a lot of the pleasure in having a pet is that you can make their lives enjoyable for them. Dogs are so positive! Couldn't agree more We recently took a vacation to Lake Tahoe, and having Coop their to be enthusiastic and happy about everything was a major bonus. There are no people I know who would take incredible pleasure in swimming back and forth to get a ball on a rope ;D
