Thanks everyone for looking. Here is an update. I am meeting Petey tomorrow, my brother is taking Reign on Thursday, I am having cleaners in on Friday and Petey will come home on Saturday. I am having the cleaning done professionally to try to reduce the dog smell to avoid any marking problems. It won't be perfect but it will be better than I can do. My brother and I are going to introduce Reign and Petey on neutral property several times and if they get along Reign can come and visit me often to play. Even for extended overnight/weekend visits. That makes me so happy. I spoke to the wife/owner and she was very happy that I am taking Petey. But she never said I will miss him and really didn't ask me any questions. My brother told me that they expect this dog to just stay put in a corner out of the way and sleep 24 hours a day. I can't wait to get him out of that home.

Best wishes, Nicki! I know you'll do great with your new fur-kid! My fav is his ears! But I'm a dog ear freak (maybe I should have put that on the weird things about us thread....)

That is so awesome Nicki! Very nice looking doggie in Petey ;D (These are some funky looking smilies! ) He looks part Pit Bull to me when I look at his face. That is good news about still getting to visit Reign, and I hope they get along. Please give a progress report with how things are going!

Thanks again guys. Jay, no I don't see pit in him. I have one more photo that they sent me with his ears up. You can see a bit of husky? or some similar looking breed (Akita, Malamute?) in that one. In person too. I am going to ask Brooke to post it to later to see what everyone thinks.

Boy! I sure don't know what Petey is. Ears say Shepherd, and I think I see some Lab in the face/eyes, but my first thought was Pitt or maybe Akita, with some Husky thrown in. The coloring and chest/ front legs say Pitt, but the chest/legs could be Lab too. Did you check to see if he has web feet? If there is any Lab in him the toes will be webbed.

Yes he has webbed feet. He is also very tall...about 28-29 inches at the shoulders.

I was just thinking that if I had gone to a shelter and someone said I have this great shepherd/pit mix I probably wouldn't consider the dog. And if that is what Petey is, I have to say that he has an awesome temperment. He is confident, not fearful, eager to please, sweet etc. It makes me wonder how many great dogs are passed over because of the stigma attached to a breed rather than giving an individual dog a chance. Just a thought I had.

I actually didn't see pit in him until it was mentioned. Now I can see where you would get that idea. I think its the crease down his stop that makes him look a little bit that way. I just love that picture Nicki ;D He looks so happy!!

I think this should be a topic for a new debate ;D "What kind of dog is Petey?" I don't see any pit, but with that frontal veiw picture of him in the snow, I think I do some some huskie but not siberian I think I see Alaskan or maybe Inuit. Akita too could be because of his broadness but really all I see is Lab and Shep or possiably Malinoise? I don't care what his mix is either he is a beauty and I am so glad that you guys are getting along well.

;D The stop is the slope from his forhead to his muzzle between his eyes.

Kuma looks like a big huge black corgi when she is laying on her back. Sometimes I'll put my hands down while she's laying on her back and pin her down by her ears and give her kisses and snuggles...(yeah I know you're feeling a little queezy now). She just wags her tail.... the sweetest dog alive.
