For some amazing video of dogs catching, check this out. media.animal.discovery.com/features/video/video.htmlI always thought Finn could physically do frisbee, but mentally he's not interested. I recently ordered the Jute Frisbee on Leerburg. Oh my goodness, these should come with a disclaimer "May cause Rowdyness. Do not use if wearing good clothing. If chaos ensues, discontinue use." I was excited when I got home and couldn't wait to let Finn test one. He was not particuarly interested until it sqeaked when he bit it. I don't think I've ever seen him so wired. I'm sure he thinks it's alive, and while I could use it was a training toy, I'm not sure I'm prepared to accept the consequences.

Why does the guy in the first clip shave his dogs? His beautiful BC's he shaves their body!!! Anyway... Disc Dogs rule! I hope that if you can gain some control with Finn that you'll get into it with him It's a lot of fun! And SO much easier to exersize the dog than Agility is I mean you still gota put some effort into it of course, but less than Agility

That guy with the shaved ( ) BC's can sure throw discs, though.. man.. I'd like to get Dakota into it someday.. Poor Ripley can't do it with those awful knees, but I know if he didn't have LP's he would have loved it, because MAN can he jump!

There are fairly short coated BCs naturally, at least the smooth coated variety exists here in Aus.

There are smooth coated BC's here as well. (What I was looking for until Dakota stole my heart)
But those are rough coated BC's, you can tell by their tails. A smooth coated BC has a tail with short hair, these guys have the heavy, plumed tails that the rough coats have.

Yeah, they are deffently shaved. Trust me, I'm on dial up so the video froze a lot I was able to tell, you can see on their legs where the fur starts and ends, it's really weird... I wonder if there was a purpose to it... Anyway, back on the topic of hand! ;D I decided I'm going to keep a large area in my back yard with the snow comact/soft to practice Disc Dogs this winter, since I'll have no agility That's one of the good things with Frisbee, as long as you've got a stable ground to work on (meaning no ice, deep snow) you can do it any time of the year!! ;D

Well, we clip Buster because his coat has gotten brittle and wiry in his later years and it's not doing him any good insulation-wise. From what I've seen of my pup's sire and dam, and other relatives, Rough coated BC's don't even shed much! Maybe one or two hairs, but HUMANS shed that much. I dunno why he would want to shave those gorgeous coats.. I got to work with Desi (dakota's dam) today with a disc in front of the puppy class.. She's SO awesome, and she was very patient with me, the novice, who wasn't sure how to throw the disc.. She caught it every time, even at those awkward angles.
