...of extreme human stupidity.
I talked to my best Montana buddy yesterday and she told me that a woman with a 4 yr. old boy and two full grown Rottweiler's had let the 4 yr old and the dogs out in the yard the day before to "play" unsupervised.
Twenty minutes later when she went to check on them, one of the Rottweiler's was standing over the boy, who was badly mauled. They rushed him to the hospital by "life flight", but he did not make it.
Both dogs were euthanized, although they were not sure if they were both involved in the mauling.
The mother's response was something like: "They were very good dogs and loved my son and had never shown any agression towards any one previously."
This is what can happen with large dogs and small children whom they view as "prey", and/or lower members of the "pack" and why children and any dog no matter what size they are should not be left alone together.

Stories like this just make me crazy. Did you read about the Golden Retriever that accidentally killed the young girl...I think she was seven..when he played tug with the scarf she was wearing. Here is the human stupidity part. They routinely played tug with the dog with articles of clothing. The dog had tugged a bit on the scarf earlier which is why the mom put the dog outside. Later the girl wanted to go out and play with the dog and the mom said yes and the girl was wearing the scarf. Girl goes in yard unsupervised. Brother finds her strangulated. The dog was not killed but rather sent across the country to be adopted because parents did not want it in their area. Mindboggling that this was allowed to happen, isn't it?

I hadn't heard that one. That is just awful too! I don't know. I will never understand how any one can be so un-thinking! An accident can happen to any one without warning, but these are not accidents and are inexcusable as far as I am concerned.

No, it wasn't an accident at all.
Not even remotely close.
It's negligence plain and simple.
The owner is to blame 100%.
Dogs 0%
Perhaps the female owner of those "now deceased dogs" should slam her head against a concrete wall several dozen times until common sense kicks in and on top of that, she should never be allowed to own dogs again as long as she draws a breath.
It's an absolute waste of 2 dogs lives who didn't deserve thier fate.
