Today was a day that my faith in people took a good hit. As some of you from the old board may remember, we had that cruelty case here in NJ about 14 months ago, www.siberescue.com/Common/NJBust.html. One of the dogs that came from there had been adopted out to what we thought was a great family, older couple, affluent, huge fenced in yard, and experience with the breed. They even went so far as to adopt a second dog from us. Well, turns out that was complete and utter horses***. The dogs were doing great up until Christmas when we last checked. But three weeks ago, we got an e-mail from them stating, "We feel it would be better if you took back the dogs, as they are fighting, and we cannot housebreak them. We would like to cut our losses now, as we have spent considerable time and money on them." THEY WERE ALREADY HOUSEBROKEN WHEN ADOPTED OUT! AND TRAINED! Considerable time and money? 6 months??!! I've had the dog since early this afternoon, she crated up beautifully, had one little accident in her crate when Loki scared the pee out of her , but other than that, she's a lovely little dog! And on top of it, the nimrods had her revacced, now I'm truly PISSED!

Did that person ever go to jail or anything? Those pictures were just...ugh... I don't know how people can live like that. And these new people should just be shot. I just don't get it... why did they revac her? How do these kind of people make it in the world if they don't have common sense!

O.k. Laura...Do you have a picture of this girl so Ann and I can drool over her?
All I have to say is, "welcome to the world of dog rescue". We had this happen when I was in the breed rescue's too. We would take the dog back and they would be perfect, so you know the people just got tired of them. It's so sad. Where is my cattle prod?

I am sorry that this is happening Laura. It is such a shame and I hope they find new homes soon.
There should be some way that people are marked so that they are never able to get another dog after doing something like this.

Oh, never let it be said that being affluent means you have a lot of brains.....
First off, those pictures were absolutely horrid....I cannot believe someone lived in that and allowed those dogs to live there too.....and then all she gets is a $1500 fine?? Surely someone showed the pictures during the trial didn't they? That person should have a lifetime ban on even thinking about owning a pet of anykind, especially a dog!!
It goes to show that the government (on both sides of the border) needs to get serious with these losers....good intentions aside, you cannot deny the fact that they have no concern or control over what they do....we see this everyday here in the news section and stuff like this. If those people you homed the dogs with didn't want them anymore, why not just say so, why make up some BS lie about it.....once again, the dogs came up on the short list of expendable items....
I know rescues do the best background investigations they can to re-home thier dogs but even with these two "fine citizens" the dogs were still to blame for being returned....ok, whats next, psych assesments on the future owners as well as background checks, criminal checks and financial checks?
Well you know what, if that is what it takes, perhaps that is the road you may have to go down eventually cuz it appears, ocassionally, there is a wolf under the sheeps clothing.

Okay, I promise pictures as soon as I can figure out whats wrong with my camera , Murphy's Law strikes again! Sigh, she isn't housebroken any more, I found out this morning Mr. and Mrs. Nimrod had restricted their water to once a day in the hopes of getting them to stop peeing in the house . So now I have a dog that can't stop guzzling it, and her bladder muscles aren't strong enough to hold it more than a few hours at a clip. She's peed in the crate, couldn't hold it overnight, but knows to go outside when told to do so, I've got my work cut out for me . She amazingly enough has retained most of the basic obedience her first foster family taught her, and she has the sweetest disposition . Believe me, breed rescues work fairly closely together around here, this couple will NOT be getting another dog from any rescue we know, Tales of the Tundra, MaPaw, and Delaware Husky Rescue have already been notified . Oh, and as for the woman who ran the puppy mill that these poor pups came from, you read it right, $1500. fine and can never own animals again. Whoopee . Between the three rescue groups who took those dogs, we had a grand total of close to $4600 in vet care for the 28 dogs and the two pregnant bitches . You do the math .

Laura - why doesn't the woman at least have to pay to clean up her own mess? I can't believe the fine was so low! Also - those nimrods restricting water to once a day? Did they want to really keep them from peeing in the house or did they want to keep them from peeing AT ALL so they wouldn't have to take them out? You are a good and patient soul to deal with it for the sake of the doggies...

Ok, we got back from the vet a bit ago. Cheyenne does have a touch of sarcoptic mange, one dose of Revolution should take care of it , but keeping my fingers crossed that the withholding of water hasn't done any long term kidney damage, my vet is taking a wait and see attitude, which I appreciate. She's going to give it a week or so before we start to worry. And yes Amyjo, they withheld water in the hopes the dogs wouldn't pee in the house anymore. And as for the woman and the original cruelty charge, the law doesn't come down hard enough as far as I'm concerned. Most states consider it more of a "nuisance" crime, and that the dogs could have been euth'd for a small amount, we took them in on our own accord

I hope the revolution works but ask Loey about that one. This was the reason she went to Magda to begin with. Her one dog was not clearing up from the SM with the revolution. Magda treated him and now he is all better.

I would have rather gone the homeopath route, but in this case, her white cell count was high, so we want those little buggers off now! I've used Revolution before with very good results, and it's only one dose as opposed to the topical cream and the dip, which are repeated doses eww.

Poor Poor thing When the white cells are up like that your right you do have to work quickly. Well once you get in touch with Magda about their immune boosting they should never have this problem again. and NO side effects from treatment I love it. Blade gets his final dose (we think) tonite before bed, diluted a little bit more than before but she thinks that this will be all he needs. Now still my dilema about vaccines I will do the titers but with the rabies I am not sure yet

People like them just make me mad! Water only once a day?!!! Pardon my ignorance, but what does 'revacced' mean?
