I was shopping today and walking back to my car when all of a sudden a car started backing out of a spot and would have hit me had I not jumped out of the way. I continued walking shaking my head slightly and the next thing I knew the car was beside me and an older woman, very large, opened her car door and asked me if I was shaking my head at her. I said yes, you almost hit me. She then says sarcastically well you should watch out, cars are bigger than you. I proceeded to tell her that her car was parked until I was behind it and that she almost hit me because she was not looking before she pulled out. I said this very nicely. Well, she then proceeds to scream at me and call me a b*&** and other very nasty names over and over again with this crazed look on her face and then she told me I needed psychiatric help all the while almost jumping out of her car and twirling her hand around her head the whole time I was so shocked, I couldn't think of anything to say. I am the one who almost got hit and I didn't even say anything until she initiated the conversation. >:(I thought she was going to beat me up. Isn't that crazy. Holy cow. There are real nuts out there!!

You know I'm pretty shy and I'm small. I don't like confrontations and I've never been in a physical fight and never would want to be but in a situation like that if you are in the wrong and you instigate an arguement with me I have to have the last word. I noticed when I started learning so much about dogs...this subconciously got worse in me for some reason. Although if someone is in the wrong and instigates an arguement with someone else I'm with I usually keep my cool and mediate the situation. You handled it a lot better than I probably would have Nicki. Thats great.

Only one? There are more and more (and I don't care which side of the border you're on here) whackjobs and nutsos walking our streets today... You bump into them at malls (as Nicki found out), church, walking in the park, driving on the highways ect ect....I wouldn't say its an epidemic but you sure can't ignore the facts... I think (readers digest version here) that a lot of people out there can't cope with the day to day stuff that happens anymore...I mean, so much crap can come down on you somedays, you gotta work hard to not bite off the head of the next person who says "hello" to you! Nicki, the lady you came up against in the parking lot sounded like she wasn't the tightest wrapped sandwhich in the picnic basket....she probably looked at you and pegged you as what she called you...in her own twisted way she thought you were at fault in what took place...you want explinations...? I can't give you any, I just know I hear this stuff every day and I am amazed at what sets people off these days.....simply amazed... oops, I said readers digest version...guess I went over... -Richard

I watched the news last night and apparently this guy was shot and killed by this other guy because he bumped into him in the parking lot while he was walking. Don't you wish you could go see them now and ask if it was worth it?

I grew up in California, have an Irish temper, am highly competative and tightly wrapped. With a slightly different mindset and a few more drugs, I could easily be the crazy person in the car.
I'm not sure at what point in my life I took a deep breath and realised that the little inconsequential wins and loss of the day were not a statement of my position in the universe.
Anger is only apprpriate when someone has intentionally wronged you and you believe counter attack is the only response available. But some people unthinkingly go from low level annoyance to flaming murderous rage over something trival. I think it's a combination of true nutcases who can't interprete life correctly, and people who don't deal with frustration.
Someone cut you off in traffic? Mildly annoying, but you shrug it off. No parking spaces, and someone "steals" the one you wanted? Frustrating yes, but meaningful?
I'm not a pacifist, and I would defend myself against physical or emotional attack; but I do feel sorry for the woman who life is so bereft of meaning that another person shaking their head would provoke such rage.

On the other side of the coin, I was taught that when backing out of a parking space, if you are about half-way out, other cars coming from the left or right should stop and wait until you back out. What really infuriates me is when I am backing out of a parking space, and a car will come down the lane really fast and will not stop and wait until I finish backing out, but swerve and zip right behind me!!! I have almost backed into idiot driver's because of this!! Then they look at you as if to say, *what in the H*** are you doing?*, as if they are the ones who are in the right! I will stop and wait as soon as I see someone's back up lights come on, and last week this prevented an accident right on our street here. A neighbor was in his driveway and I saw his backup lights come on, so I slowed almost to a stop. He didn't even look in my direction, but proceeded to back out and you should have seen the started look on his face when he finally saw me, after he was crosswise across the street in front of me!! I just smiled, and he did too, but was embarrassed and noticably shaken! If I hadn't stopped, he would have backed into me. (Sigh), it sure is a burden when you have to drive for yourself and everyone else too!!!

Don't you wish you could go see them now and ask if it was worth it? Yeah and here in Ohio they just passed concealed carry so every Tom, thingy and Hairy Nut Job could have a gun. I just keep my mouth shut and my head down when crap like that happens - I used to be alot different but it just isn't worth getting my head blown off! Nor is it worth getting upset about...beacuse in the end that upset feeling doesn't hurt anybody but me... And no matter what I say or do - it won't change some nut jobs behavior or world view.

Hahaha Having some fun with the censored words list? There were some already pre programed in the list when I got the board. I edited a few of them out but left the more crewder less used ones. I'm surprised they would pass a law in Ohio for concealed weapons Amyjo. Aren't you were all those sniper attacks are going on?

I have almost been backed into before so I am always on the look out for brake lights. This ladies car didn't have any brake lights as I passed behind it. That is why her response was so abnormal. She was looking for a fight obviously because I didn't even say anything. Any "normal" person would have just said gee sorry. And Loey I do the same thing. If a person is backing, I let them out. But noone else who lives in my state does this. I have one more road rage story. A few years ago, I was on the Turnpike and a small truck was entering. I purposely sped up so he could have room to enter behind me. Evidently, he took offense to this. I guess he wanted me to slow so he could get in front of me like I am a mind reader. So he then went ahead of me and slammed his brakes. Fortunately, I slowed in time. But, he wanted to kill me I guess because he then got to the left of me and tried to run me off the road. And I was actually trying to be considerate by speeding up:( I tried to get a number off the truck but it didn't even have a license plate and when he saw me looking, he sped off. Imagine if he could carry a weapon. These are not normal responses. They are alot of sick thingys ;D out there.

Yes they passed the concealed carry... I am not anti-gun -My husband hunts and we have guns in the home -but I am fer sure anti concealed carry. I know we aren't supposed to get political - but for me it is just an issue of public safety - nothing more. Every year in Ohio a bunch of people get killed by their friends during deer season - now I gotta worry about these same morons at my local grocery store. And yep - Columbus is home to the 270 sniper.

Nicki - The exact same thing happened to me once except it was a 18 wheeler and he tried to run me into one of those concrete walls.
The next exit had a state patrol building so I got off and drove straight there - I had his liscence number and a WITNESS who saw it all and followed me to make sure I was okay. The troopers still refused to do anything about it. If you ask me it was attempted murder. Nothing less. You are right there are some sick boy thingys out there.
