I understand perfectly - again - where you are coming from, Richard. I admit I have a strong afinity with dogs (I am fond of animals in general + lately I have been learning more about cats also since two came into my life and am now their parent )..so see, since this a passion for me it is my calling to try and improve the situation with the way they are seen. Actually it is not only with animals that I am concerned but also children. Dog owners are a lot like parents - some have no idea what they are getting themselves into and do not assume responsabilities properly. There should be compulsory parenthood classses respectively dog ownership ones too. As you have said - I don't expect things to change drastically during my lifespan - but I know we can make them turn into that direction I came here rambling because I had read Brooke's posts in the other forum and new I could find even more suggestions and opinions here. Thanks for listening

I used to think Irish Wolfhounds were ugly until I actually seen one outside of a picture and I'm like, What an awesome dog! Looks wouldn't stop me from liking a dog, I like all dogs.

I've owned a breed that some would call "ugly". Shar-peis aren't what some call pretty, but I think they're so differant that they'r beautiefull. No Ugly dogs, just differant strokes for differant folks

It looks a little like a mini Rhino without the horns. ;D I may be the only person in the world who thinks Rhino's are cute! And while we are on the subject, your GSD is a beauty. I love the straight back.

I have to admit, I use to think a few select breeds were just hidious, and didn't understand how people could own one. Then I got my "homely" little Aussie + BC, which many people thought she was ugly. She had the big Aussie bum and a long copper coat, with blonde streaks. And for the longest time she had the HUGEST blond fro on the top of her head! :)my mom actually asked the vet if it would ever go away I loved her to bits, with all her health and behavior problems, and her big bum ;D I thought she was the most gorgous dog ever, and while I cooned over her my sister often looked at me in disgust. I know many others who thought she was gorous to. It's deffently all in the eye of the beholder. So now, whenver I see a dog which I personally don't think as too atractive, I thank god that someone out there loves him and thinks he's as gorous outside as he is inside, because everyone needs that ;D

I agree What the dog world veiws as beauty sometimes are the worst behaved NASTY dogs I have ever met. It's what a dog gives to you that makes them beautiful and if they love you and you love them that is a masterpeice in my opinion
