I am not even going to get into everything that is going on with Doogie so I will try to make it short. We are keeping Doogie on the week days and my mom's ex takes him on the weekends. I guess we are Doogie Doggie Daycare. His skin is in horrible shape. He has several hot spots over his body. If he is awake, he is scratching or biting himself. He rarely had skin problems when he lived with us and ate Sadie's food. Mom's ex is feeding him Beneful. I told Mom to feed him Sadie's kibble whenever he is at our house from now on.
I think I am going to sneak him to the Vet when Sadie goes this Saturday. Of course we will be the one paying for the bill. Mom's ex doesn't want to take him to the Vet because he says Doogie is old and everything that is wrong is comes with age. Sheesh the dog is only around 6 or 7 and a small breed at that! His teeth are close to falling out they are so nasty. Oh yea, I forgot, I said I was going to make this short. I will stop ranting now.
I have tried Bag Balm, black tea, and benadryl to try and make him more comfortable. Nothing is helping so far. The poor dog must feel miserable always itching. Has anyone ran across something that soothes hot spots? I have heard of people using witch hazel, bathing in Aveeno/oatmeal, dabbing milk of magnesia or using Petkin Reliefstick to help but I haven't tried any of that yet. I would hate to have to resort to getting a shot from the Vet because he isn't my dog. Plus if I can find something cheap, that can help, the ex might be willing to treat Doogie when he isn't with us.
Any ideas?
