Poor Raven I don't know much about PANO but Sadie limps from time to time. I think it may be her hips. I spoke to the Holistic store down the road and she gave me alfalfa powder to try. It may have had some kelp in it too but pretty sure is was mostly alfalfa. I don't have the label because she just gave me some to try. It is pretty cheap. It is around $5-$7 for a pound bag. We give Sadie 1/2 to 1 tsp with supper. I can't say if it was coincidence or not but I think it helped. Sadie gets alfalfa powder, Glucosamine and fish oil. Sometimes we give her a liquid (Gaaa can't remember the name right now! ) that has the same qualities as aspirin but it is from herbs. The other liquid we use from time to time is Yucca. Sadie was having problems standing and would hobble but she hasn't had any problems since we introduced the powder. We did change brands of the Glucosamine about a month after adding the powder though. I am not sure what exactly helps her the most. I just know the combination works for her. I know how hard it is to keep Sadie "calm" so I can't imagine how hard it is for you and Raven. We used Bach's Rescue Remedy, after she was spayed, to take the edge off. It seemed to help with her nervous energy. My husband started using it too. We also tried using lavender oil in a diffuser to calm her but it would cause my husband and I to fall asleep instead. I am not sure what Sadie was doing while we were dreaming.

I was looking over your last thread on Pano to get more insight on the symptoms. You said you used a pinch test? I have never heard of it so was curious what it was. Raven showed up a little lame on her right foreleg, and I was a bit concerned because there should have been no reason for it. So I called the vet talked with him, and because we already had dealt with this in Willow, I figured it was Pano so he we did the pinch test and SURE ENOUGH .

This is where you squeeze the long bone on the affected limb. If the dog shows Pain symptoms, more than likely it is Pano. This can affect any limb, front or back but usually presents in the front legs. There are xrays that can be done but you have to sedate the dog etc... and since she is at the right age for this we are treating the symptoms. If she does not show improvement then we will go with xrays, but she did in front so REPEAT THE PROCEEDURE

Ahh Gotcha. Thanks for the info. I learn something new every day. ;D I am not sure if the alfalfa powder would help Raven. The lady said it helps with some pain and specifically arthritis pain. If you do try it, DON'T sneeze when you have the bag open!! I am still finding green on my ceiling from that one.
