Last night I was sleeping on the couch and I heard Jake throwing up .. When I woke up to see it I saw 2 things in the throw up so I sprang into action to prevent him from eating them back and I noticed 2 small pieces of wood and this thing .... When my boyfriend woke up I told him to look at it and he said it was playdoh from when our friends had their kids here and they were playing with it 2 weeks ago .... What the heck possesses dogs to eat WOOD for one? That was from his doghouse that he liked to chew and eat for some reason. Phil has now put metal along the edges and he does not eat it anymore. ;D A friend told me that his Doberman who is the same age as Jake threw up 2 legs to his octopus toy and a bone... Dogs are weird!!!!

What we might think is "weird" behavior, makes perfect sense to our dogs and we are the "weird" ones to them. ;D
Puppies and even older dogs can get into a lot of trouble by chewing on and ingesting things that can hurt and even kill them. One defense mechanism is throwing up what they can not digest, as you found out.
It is your job to "puppy proof" your house so he cannot get into things that can harm him, or keep him confined when you cannot watch him.
Chewing wood outside is one thing most puppies/dogs do, but the splinter's they ingest can puncture their throat or intestines. The metal on the corner's of the house was a good idea and I am glad he is not chewing on his house anymore. Just be sure to watch him so that he doesn't try to chew the metal off and make dangerous sharp edges.
Aren't puppies fun? ;D

The house is pretty much puppy proofed. The kids played with the playdoh outside and some went onto the lawn. We thought we picked it all up.

It's amazing what the dog's nose can find. When it's clean to the eye, the nose knows. One time I was cleaning up the yard - flies can be a problem in Australia with animal faeces so yard cleanliness is important - and I thought I saw something oddly silver in the poo.
Yes, it was a 5 cent coin. (much smaller than a nickle)
Hardly compensation for picking up the poo, and it was not me who was throwing money around. I was just grateful that it had passed, because that could easily have been trouble.
