Don't panic!! Reign did not drop either testicle. We had to have them surgically removed which is pretty highly recommended because of the greater risk of cancer forming in an undescended testicle should it be allowed to remain. The procedure is more involved than a neuter. Reigns stomach was shaved. His was a bit more involved because they couldn't find one and had to go hunting for it. They did find it. Reign recovered very quickly. The incision was small and everything was completely fine. If the vet can actually locate the testicles (by feeling or whatever), the procedure will be even less involved than Reign's. I am not sure of the age where you would say, if they aren't down they aren't coming but I am pretty sure that they should be down by 6 months. I would trust the vet on this one. If he thinks you should wait a bit, I would wait. And don't worry about Brody being a girly man. Reign was most definitely a manly man!! ;D

Has one dropped or are they both undescended? It's usually pretty rare that the undescended testicles will drop after the age of 6 months but I suppose anything is possible.
A cryptorchid surgery is a lot like a dog spay. Usually the testicles are in the canal and a small incision is made on both sides (if both are undescended) instead of down the center. If the testicles are near the scrotal sack then only one incision is made (in the center where the incision would normally be made when the testicles are in the correct place). They may be able to tell where they are once he's under but they may also have to search for them.
Anyway, it is a little more complicated and painful than a simple castration, but they usually recover without a problem.
