hi folks! i have a "runny" problem. ok here are the facts: Ringo's been on Innova Evo for the past 3 wks. His poop is perfect. This past, hot weekend, he had: (besides the Evo) - a special Greenie treat (the toothbrush shape) that he had last Saturday afternoon. - a lot of playing ball, running around chasing water splashes from Elaina (my 11yr old) from the pool (i don't let him drink the chlorinated water..not sure if it's safe???) - a lot of drinking cool, water breaks - playing with the lawn sprinkler-so more drinking water Now, the runs started yesterday afternoon till today..it started semi soft to runny ... we don't know why..is it maybe because of the Greenie treat w/c I only give to him rarely..like once /2week (this is his 2nd one)...or too much water? He's not in any kind of discomfort..no whining while he goes...just curious... thanks!! marsha

Innova is a very rich food, very good, but very rich. I finally had to take Zoe off of Innova Puppy because she just kept having super soft to drizzly poos.

It could be the greenie or something else she got into or that she seems to have drank 2 million gallons of water!!! If the stool was perfect on Evo I tend to doubt that is the problem. If it continues through tonight I would call the vet. Make sure that she is drinking to stay hydrated.

I agree with Nicole and tend to think it is the Greenie, and maybe the consumption of more water while playing. Did you give the good brand name Greenie? (can't remember which one). I have heard that some of the off brand can do this because they are contaminated with a bacteria, like some off brand rawhides. I know I am not much help, because I don't give either to my dogs.

I would agree with the idea that it was the greenies. Since I started my dogs on raw they have had little, well formed stools. Now, whenever my dogs get grains (usually by way of vet techs or well meaning friends) they get the runs and the number one ingredient in Greenies is Wheat Gluten. This is also a common allergen in many dogs.

thanks you guys!! this is the brand i have: www.1800petmeds.com/pdetail.asp?SK=10633&SP=&WT=&MG=&PT=i wish i can cut it into pieces so he doesn't finish a whole one in one sitting-but it's freakin' solid! i can get it from him when he's midway and he's not the type that would get mad if I take his toy/bone/treat away from him, as long as there's an exchange. But then again, if i want him to be busy for a long while..this is a perfect treat for him. and yes it has the Wheat gluten ingredient. well, this morning his poop looks a lot better. so i guess it must have been the Greenie. another lesson learned ... also...on the subject of lessons learned...last nite..we didn't realized it was 8:30p with the day still looking like it's 6Pm, we were still with Ringo playing. He loves to play "golf-tennis" where Sergio hits the tennis ball with a golf club and he brings the ball back to him. This game was a natural for Ringo..first time Sergio did it, he didn't even have to command him to get it or say "good boy" (you know how men are with the praises..very stingy)...ringo just automatically brought the ball back to him, dropping it in front of SErgio so he can hit it again...so from then on, SRgio praises him and he commands him to sit/down b4 he hits the ball. If I knew how to video this game, I would and show it to u guys..Ringo's butt and tail wags like crazy while he's on a down position waiting impatiently for the flying ball. oops, back to the 'lessons learned'...well, after all that running around...of course, he had to drink a lot before going inside...then he peed at 10pm and slept. lo and behold...he rang the doorbell (he sleeps in the gated kitchen with his crate open) at 4:30am!!! his normal wake up time is an hour later. so sergio took him out and walked him since that's his poop time, too. oooh...never again with the late nite out!!! SErgio said he peed like soooo long...!!poor thing!

See to me those greenies don't seem like they would be very healthy. Being kind of a waxy type material and grainy they don't seem like they would break down very easily and I can see the stomach getting pretty acidic Who knows. I think these guys are on to something though. When Kuma went on Evo I noticed her teeth started getting more pearly again. They were starting to turn yellow before. I have rarely ever given her a greenie but if I do it's a small one. They just seem like they'd be hard on the internal system to me.
