I am trying to throttle back on my Raw feeding questions. It isn't working! It is nice to finally have a resource besides books. I have been boiling and drying beef liver for Sadie's treats. Cheaper than pre-packaged treats and I know what is in them. I have tried to feed her raw chicken liver before but she just pulled it out of her bowl and hid it behind the table. I was wondering if there is a difference between liver (beef/calf/chkn/etc) or does it even matter. I always assumed liver was liver. I would like to start making a liver paste to freeze inside her kongs and RMB for a treat but not sure if too much liver (or certain kinds) can be toxic. I know that liver should be limited somewhat but I don't know where that line is.

Well all organs taken together should make up about 10 percent give or take of the diet. TOO much liver can cause toxicity but you would really have to over do it.
Just like you want variety in your RMB sources you should seek out variety in your organs. So yeah all liver is a good source of nutrients but liver from various sources is better (not a must do but better)
I am picky about the sources of my liver as much as I can afford to be because of the function of an animals liver.

Thank you. I haven't been able to find much information on what "kind" of liver is okay. Normally I just see "liver" in the menues but never what kind. I haven't been feeding her Raw liver since I have been giving her liver dried as treats. I will start rotating the liver now though. Maybe she will like other liver dried even if she doesn't like it raw.
