So my Kylie has fine, silky and rather thin hair. It is beautiful an easy to groom. I don't think the thin-ness is is due to any skin condition because it has always been that way and she isn't itchy or anything.
Over time though her elbows have been worn bare. Is there anything I can do about this? She has access to furniture, rugs, dog beds at all times and is never required to lay on a hard surface - though she chooses to at times.

Since I am now an official expert on skin disorders ;D my official diagnosis is that this is a pressure sore (callus) and that Kylie is more sensitive to getting this from lying on a hard surface because her hair is thin. It is funny, because Sunny has beds everywhere and yet he too will choose to lie on a hard floor quite often. I think this is quite common (elbow calluses) and is caused from the friction of the hard surface and not anything to be concerned about. I would apply emollients or some type of soothing lotion to keep it moist so it doesn't crack and bleed and become infected. Just keep an eye on it for that purpose. I would also try to discourage her from lying on hard surfaces.

Would like to put this in here for "lets say" food for thought" On the elbow callus's think irratation/friction from rough surfaces could cause them especially if a dog lays on concret. What baffles me from my own experience that I feel it could be linked to diet especially if your dogs are laying around on carpet all the time in the house or a dirt surface and not concret.
When one dog gets a problem I look at the individual dog but when the entire crew breaks out with it I think outside influence. Changing the quailty and quanity of my salmon oil in the diet cleared up everyones elbow callus's that had developed over a 60 day time span. I started buying it off the shelf in an health food store in capsules instead of the brand I was using getting it shipped in by the gallon jug...
So it has made me think, since everyone developed them when their living environment hadn't changed and they had never had them before. Just an area to consider looking into .....
