As strange as this may sound I have never seen a flea. Yesterday while I was checking Sunny (I do this every now and then), a small black bug came running out of his fur. It was all black and ran fast. It was about this big. * I just used the star to show the size. It was actually oval in shape and solid black in color. It wasn't a tick. Does this sound like a flea or are fleas smaller.

HMMMM Not sure because I really have never seen one either. I think that is about the right size but I thought they jumped Check around the base of his tail and around his collar because if it is one they never come alone I know that they are very small and almost translucent like, but yeah all my years with dogs and I can't say I have ever seen one.

Isn't that funny that we have never seen a flea. ;D I will check him again. It ran rather than jumped and was solid black. If there are no more than maybe it was just a bug.

The only fleas I've ever seen are smaller than that.. I'm no flea expert, either, I don't see many of them.

They're VERY small...a whole lot smaller then the symbol you pointed out. I used to get eaten alive by fleas when I was really small. We had a cat that had a whole bunch of fleas (poor kitty ) and for some reason the fleas liked chomping on me, so I'd get all itchy. Its NO fun, let me tell you that much. ;D You could get him inspected by a vet, or if you want to do it yourself, get yourself a flea comb. I can't tell you how to properly tell if Sunny has fleas or not, because my dogs have NEVER had fleas, thank goodness. ;D

They are a lot smaller than that Nicki. Probably more like the size of a piece of sand or just a little bigger.

I thought the were very small but wasn't sure. I haven't seen any more so I guess it was just a bug afterall. Thankfully!!

Yep...fleas are very small and hard to see on a dog/cat, so I'm sure that was not a flea.
