I think for sure it is better than kibble - but not really a solution. It is time comsuming and you will be altering the food so that over time it really won't be meeting his nutritional needs like raw... (ie you can't feed cooked bones)...I think it would be a mistake - especially when raw is so easy. (really it is!)
You would also be missing out on the physical /mental stimulation and tooth cleaning that raw provides.... I know you are going to say that you will give him raw rec bones and to that I say why not just feed raw?

That makes sense. I am in a I don't know which way to turn state at the moment. I am still giving cooked food and Sunny is really improving. I will know more after we go to the vet on Monday although he did a solid stool today and is acting great and I am not even sure I need to go anymore.

I agree with Ann and Amyjo and would just cook the food less.
Kerra went through a "spell" where she didn't want certain raw food, so I just "seared" in for her a little. It was still completely raw, except for some of the outside, and she would then gobble it down, so after awhile I just started giving her the completely raw again and she eats it fine. She sometimes will not eat at a meal, but this is perfectly normal when feeding raw.
