Here is a question and interesting answer regarding diseases and the cause.
Magda also contends that puppies/dogs do not normally go through "fear stages", but that these are caused by vaccines. (distemper/rabies to be exact).
I still haven't made up my mind one way or the other. This new "idea" is hard to buy, since we have all been told it's "normal" in dogs.
I just posted this because I thought it was interesting and easy to understand! ;D
The Question:
> Ok, so forgive me for my ignorance or brain washing, but HD isn't genetic?
How do you tell what is truly a genetic flaw as opposed to vaccinosis being
passed on? I'm just curious.....this is all new to me.
Magda's reply:
You have had some good answers, but to specifically address the issue of how
to identify those diseases that are truly genetic, let me address that
issue.
Truly genetic diseases are more related to what would be considered "faults"
in a breed standard, such as deficient angulation in front or rear, kinked
tails, bad heads, etc. Most of these diseases address 'conformation". Most
of the functional diseases, such as bloat, cardio, eye diseases, HOD, Pano,
OCD, seizures, temperaments (for the most part) etc., etc., are mostly
related to diet and/or vaccinations. The easiest way to make this
determination is to do a little research on the particular disease. If the
disease did not exist 30 years ago, then you KNOW it is not a true genetic
disease, but one caused by poor diet, and/or vaccines. If the disease is
labeled "isopathic" then you KNOW for sure it is vaccine related. Other
diseases, such as HD and bloat, for which research has been going on forever
and they are yet to determine a cause, then you are pretty safe knowing that
environmental issues (such as diet and vaccines) play a huge role in it,
and most likely it is not a true genetic disease.
Something else that you must keep in mind is that vaccines CHANGE the DNA.
Prior to vaccines being the norm, dogs who had TRUE genetic diseases, did
not survive to be incorporated into breeding programs. In the wild, of
course, these animals NEVER survive, as survival of the fittest is
fundamental.
When vaccines first appeared and became a routine part of our husbandry
practices, vaccine damage showed in minor ways. Let's for the sake of
argument use an example here:
40 years ago you vaccinated your first litter. A couple of the pups showed
fear issues. You worked with the pups at socializing them, and most of them
did OK, but a couple ended up with permanent personality issues, that kept
them from being shown regularly. Yet, they were nice specimens of the breed
and so they were bred. A few of these dogs' pups showed the same tendency
to fear/timidity, etc, so again, some "grew out" of it, and others didn't.
By now, everyone is talking about "that line" having "temperament problems".
Two or three generations down the line, the timidity is now showing more as
aggression (fear biting) fear of noises, thunder, etc. Now, almost every
dog in the line is "affected". And by now, EVERYONE KNOWS that line has
"temperament problems" and so now the breeder is looking at getting rid of
the problem. Now, at this point, this is a genetic disease, in so far as
the vaccine damage has become imprinted into the DNA of all the animals from
that line.
Now, in the search for better temperaments, the breeder does several
outcrosses to dogs with good temperament. However, this breeder's line has
has several cases of bloat, or many of the dogs have digestive problems.
They are poor eaters, some of them have been "diagnosed" with IBD, etc.
This new line's "genetic vaccine imprint" is addressing the digestive
system. Probably the whole thing started with the breeder having had
several litters with Parvo, and so s/he has decided to start vaccinating
against parvo earlier (at 6 weeks) and more often (every two weeks) and
longer (yearly boosters) because s/he is afraid of Parvo, based on her
earlier experiences. The Parvo vaccine's damage presents itself with
digestive/intestinal problems and enlargement of the heart, which are the
chronic signs of Parvo.
So now, the breeder with bad temperament (caused originally by the distemper
or the rabies vaccine) has added digestive/intestinal problems to her/his
line. Three generations later, she no longer has as many temperament
problems as s/he did, but now, two dogs have been diagnosed with acute
cardiomyopathy due to "stress".
See the "puzzle" coming together?? The original vaccine damage that
caused timidity/shyness/fear biting (nervous system damage due to vaccines -
a typical vaccine reaction, since vaccines strip the myelin covering of the
nerves and cause acute meningis swelling) was compounded by the vaccine
damage that caused sensitivity to the digestive/intestinal system with a
chronic form of Parvo (which also affects the heart in its acute form). Now
Cardio, a much more dangerous and life threatening disease is part of the
picture, and it appears to affect the dogs that are most "sensitive to
stress".
It is a slow developing MONSTER that keeps adding DNA changes upon DNA
changes to become part of the genetic trades of the now combined two blood
lines.
By now, we have 20 generations of vaccine damaged DNA imprinted into a
"line" or a "breed" and breeders running to take all kinds of irrelevant
tests to guarantee the health of their animals to prospective buyers. Those
who have been breeding for a long time and remember the time when their dogs
didn't have any of these diseases wonder what has happened. Those who are
newcomers to the breeds, naturally accept that " large breeds are prone to
bloat, and bone diseases" that "all large chested dogs run the risk of
Cardiomyopathy" that "all flat faced breeds" have "breathing problems" and
on and on the myth becomes SCIENCE.
Vet schools and research facilities spend years and years studying the
"causes" of these diseases. National Breed Clubs establish strict rules
under which to breed and eliminate "affected animals". Specific Breed
Health Foundations do "studies to find markers" for those diseases that are
killing thousands and thousands of affected dogs. In the end, NONE OF THEM
find any cause.
The "marker" may be found (ruining many times, the reputations of caring
breeders who are guilty only of being "responsible" and ignorant to the
damage being caused by repeated vaccinations and poor diets) and pointing
the Almighty accusatory finger at the ONE DOG responsible for it all! In
reality, that "marker" was the first dog to clearly present the already
inherited predisposition, caused by poor diet and inherited vaccine damaged
DNA to the disease in question. So now, pedigrees containing that dog's
name are feared like the plague, blamed for everything bad happening to the
breed and huge attempts at breeding the dog "out of the pedigree" are being
made. Just to pick up some other form of chronic disease, vaccine damaged
DNA dogs, that will bring with them other representations of chronic vaccine
related diseases.
So, what do YOU DO NOW?
First, go to Merck and study the ACUTE representations of infectious
diseases for which a vaccine exists. Learn them well!!!Second, research all
the signs of chronic disease caused by vaccine damage. Many articles have
been written on this. Personally, I think that Dee Blanco's article on the
chronic signs of vaccinosis (which is in our files or links section) is the
most comprehensive.
Now, you have the knowledge you need to identify TRUE genetic diseases and
diseases considered genetic, but are nothing more than vaccine damage caused
by the DNA of the affected dogs.
Hope this helps!!!
