Hi everybody... I know this is totally OUT THERE but I just have to post it because I love you all so much! If my experience can help even one of you or someone you care about It's worth a few moments of my time and if I sound like a freak - so be it! ;D
So here goes... I have a diagnoses of Essential Tremor (ET) often misdiagnosed as early parkinsons. In laymans terms my hands shake for no other reason than they just do. Usually it doesn't cause me too much trouble other than some mild embarressment but wreaks havoc when my adrenaline is even just a little elevated (job interviews, getting pulled over etc..) Oh and on my wedding day I was shaking from head to toe so much that my dear hubby had to hold me up during the ceremony. But I digress.
It has gotten worse in the last couple of years...so much so that loved ones who have long been used to it - began to comment.
Doctors suggest cutting out caffeine which I went about doing. I am a major junkie (1 cup of coffee in the morning and 6 or more diet sodas throughout the day).
I long ago fixed my eating habits never considering that what I drank should be included in that.
Anyhow I started with reducing the diet pepsi while continued drinking my coffee. A girls gotta have some vices right?
Well anyway after reducing and then eliminating my diet pepsi intake... I am moody, irritable, weepy and very bitchy. I am still drinking coffee in the am so it ain't the lack of caffeine. AND despite these negative symtoms my "shakes" are almost imperceptible now. GO FIGURE!
So I go on a mission to find out what my damage is. Why have I turned into such a mental mess? Turns out ASPARTAME is addictive which explains my recent behavior and is implicated in a whole lot of other health problems. Seems my long term use was likely the cause of my intensified ET symptoms because it is thought to interfere with neurological functioning.
Ingestion of Aspartame is not proven to be the cause but is implicated in so many health problems that I would encourage anybody with any issues of any kind (or no issues at all) to cut it out of thier diets.
I threaded a needle on the first try today. I don't think I have ever done that before. I was a moody irritable irrational bitch while I was doing it.....but this too shall pass.
Peace everybody!
Amy
