I didn't have any problems about the shots. I gave the receptionist the rabies certificate..., and for some reason the vet had put that the next visit was 6/04, so I told her the rabies was a 3 yr. and the 6/04 must be when her other's are due. All she said was, "Yes, the lst rabies is a one yr. and then they are 3 yr. after that! "
I decided to only have a fecal and hw done, since she seems perfectly healthy and as we know, serious illness can come on so suddenly anyway.
She has no worms, even after raw feeding for about a yr. now and I was very happy about that, after the Vet giving me a mild lecture when I took Pup in about how dangerous raw feeding is. He made no comment about the negative results, and they will call by tomorrow if her hw test is positive.
I wasn't charged for an office visit and with the blood draw/disposal, hw test and fecal it came to $35.55.

There was something else that happened at the Vets office that was kind of funny, in a sad way! They were asking everyone who came in if they wanted to purchase the HW preventative right away. When I was asked I just said, "No". While I was waiting to get in to see the Vet with Kerra, another lady and I struck up a conversation about her sweet little female spaniel mix. She was an older dog and reminded me of Pup...her tail wagged the whole time, and it was so long, it swept the floor! The receptionist asked her if she wanted the hw preventative right away and the lady said she did and asked if she should start giving it the lst of the month. The receptionist (they have about 6, and this one was very young), looked at her blankly for a moment, and then said, "yes". I told them I had just done some reading on hw and the temp. has to reach 57 degrees, and then you start the hw 2 months from then. They both said they have seen mosquitoes already. I said, yes, but the temp. has to reach 57 before the mosquitoes can transmit the hw (I didn't go into the details), and felt that was easy to understand. They both looked at me as if I had two heads and didn't say a word!!!! Then the woman said to the receptionist..."Casey is drooling!" The receptionist asked if she always does that, and the woman said she had never done it before!!! I was thinking..."oh, oh! Wonder what shot(s) they gave her??", but I kept my mouth shut this time!!!!

Oh strong woman you are Loey. I would have blasted them. I can't stand one single receptionist that works in that office I am glad your girl came out with no worms and I am sure her HW will be negetive also. That was really cheap. I paid $65 for Blade this last time, and that was the swab fecal, HW, lymes, and Erlichia test. They do a combined blood test for those 3. I guess that wasnt that much when I think about it. What I did find odd was that they charged $10 for the venipuncture. I thought that would be included in the test. HMMMM Well we dont have to worry about anthing untill June when his rabies is due.

I could be wrong, but I think they are different...isn't Erlichia more like "Rocky Mountain Fever"?
Guess we better look that up! ;D
