This was posted at the rawfeeding list...It is so sad and so frustrating...WHY does it seem so many dogs have cancer? If you want to respond to her, I believe it is a yahoo address.
I posted this message also at OC and LAbarf commumities. Pleaes feel
free to cross post this message, if you are so inclined. I need help
quickly.

Last week, I took my 10 y-o, 70 lb. chow-x rescue to the vet. This
dog, and his mixed-breed friend, came to me about 2 mos. ago. (I
take abandoned, abused and elder-origin dogs/cats)
Rollie had a little lump under his lower eye lid. Within three days,
the growth was poking up above his eye and off to the vet we went. I
have never seen something grow so fast! I had made an appointment
for Thursday, but had to get him in in a rush on Monday.
Turned out he had to have the tumor removed (no surprise). Tumor was
attached to his nictating membrane.
Today, the vet called and said that the tumor was malignant melanoma.
I asked about what could be done, and the ONLY thing he said
was "chemo". I asked about alternatives, and he said this... "These
tumors grow so fast, and spread so fast, that any homeopathic
approach would be unquestionably futile. Even chemo is probably a
long-shot"
1) I am really upset. I refuse to accept this. Anyone have any
ideas, articles, alternatives??
I moved him to an all raw diet about one month ago, and I am certain
he probably has been overdosed with vaccines given the former
family's approach to dogs: Vaccinate, throw some kibble in a bowl,
pick up poop, pet dog (if there is time). This poor old guy was
never socialized, and never allowed in the house. Ten years in a
backyard kennel. Breaks my heart. This should, categorically, be
considered abuse. His blood tests also revealed he was hypothyroid.
2) I need desperately to find a great homeopathic vet. I live in
Orange County, but am willing to travel to San Diego, Los Angeles,
San Bernardino, Riverside... wherever.
Please feel free to cross post this message, if you feel so
inclined. I would so appreciate any thoughts I can get. I must act
quickly.
Responses can be posted here, or respond to canyon53ss@y....
This is the 15th cancer dog I have had in less than a year, as a
rescue. I am so sick and tired of this... frustrated, and angry that
this is what our food, and veterinary systems have
made true for the average pet owner.
Forgive me for ranting, but this is NOT acceptable and my heart
breaks, again. We humans just have to do better than this.
