Elvis just started this - this morning. He is drooling out of one side of his mouth. I checked his face dosen't seem droopy and the eye on that side still blinks.
From some of my reading - this can be indicative of some pretty scary neurological stuff! All his other behavior seems really normal, peeing, pooping, eating, pleanty of energy....
He and Kylie did have a pretty intense wrestling session - this am (not a fight - just play and I didn't stop it because Elvis was winning bless his geriatric heart) anyway....have any of you seen this before? Do you think it might be caused by some kind of trauma?
He has a vet appt on wed morning.

I am sorry I don't know what it could be. If that is the only symptom though, perhaps it is a localized trauma. Could there possibly be a piece of bone stuck somewhere in a tooth or the mouth?? I am sending prayers and hugs to Elvis. Let us know what the vet says.

He is still "moist" on that side of his face but isn't dripping like yesterday... He seems fine otherwise

Do you think it's possible he maybe chewed something up he maybe shouldn't have? Not last christmas but the one before Kuma had gotten into something somewhere. She had sent the whole day outside warm sunny north carolina christmas week because I was priming my kitchen walls and I didn't want the fumes getting to her.
She came in early evening that night, and after a little while she started drooling SOO BAD we had to take her to the emergency room. She ended up spending the night and they weren't sure if she was going to make it. I don't know if she had gotten into something outside...maybe a plant or something because we had a lot of bushes out doors or if maybe I had accidentally spilled some turpentine in the carport and she had somehow gotten a little on her paws and licked at it or something.
We also had some super sketchy neighbors who regularly put their trash in our backyard and they were mean to her so we didn't know if they had poisoned her or something being that she was outside all day.
Also shen without thinking had put one of those blue disc things in the toilet after it had been cleaned. (He likes the color) but forgot we had a dog that had the tendency to drink the cold water out of the toilet if we forgot to put the lid down and we thought possibly she snuck in and got herself a drink. We rarely leave the seat up but every once and awhile it happens.
She was drooling so bad that her entire neck, chest and paws were sopping wet and she seemed really mopey. It was just dripping from her mouth. Her bed and the carpet was wet. They gave her a few injections of atropine that night and it didn't look good at first. She was fine the next day.
Yours doesn't sound as bad but maybe he just got a taste of something he maybe shouldn't have??

well - it stopped completley. The vet had no clue - thought maybe it was something stuck in the mouth - said to keep an eye on it and call him if it happens again.
We were at the vet anyway for the bordatella vacc... We did titers for parvo and distemper - it was only $65.oo all together - so Nicki, I think you should have a chat with your vet...
Anyway the blood will be sent off to Cornell and I will get results in 2-3 weeks... The vet was actually happy I didn't want to vaccinate.
He was impressed with coat and teeth... I finally at the end of appointment told him about raw...Said he didn't really reccommend but didn't have a fit or anything. So - thats good...

That's good news. It could have even been just a tiny splinter in the gum that dislodged itself. I am glad all is well. And yes I am going to have a chat with my vet. Why on earth am I paying nearly $100.00 more than you. Let us know the titer results when you get them.
