I have Lonsdale's book too. He is considered THE authority on raw feeding and has put a lot of research into it. The book is very good, but Lonsdale has not gotten the respect he deserves from the Veterinary community, of course.
I think once someone gives rawfeeding an honest try and gives it time to work and sees the difference it makes in their pets, they will not go back to feeding commercial food.
Viva La Raw Feeding and Tom Lonsdale. ;D

I just finished this book. I am more convinced than ever that rawfeeding is the right thing to do - mainly because of the attempts of the pet food industry and the vetrinary community to silence, ignore and freakify him!
I mean if they are right and their so called research stands up - then why are they so afraid of open discourse?

Amy you have just raised the MILLION $$$$$ question. If they are so sure that what they put in their bags of kibble is safe and healthy then why not just dissmiss this man as a crackpot That is not how they handle him or others like him. They get all defesive show no proof that a raw diet is harmful, and show not conclusive study's that a kibble diet is healthy Blade goes in next week for his HW test, and full blood panel. I am sure our results are going to be GREAT. I also am curious being still a little cautious of raw how his stool sample will turn out. When he was on kibble he had a bought with whip worms, so where did they come from If he shows up clean on this one it will just add to my feelings that the way I am feeding him is the only way.

When my dogs (everyone I ever had) were on kibble, they had to be wormed regularly, and at least once a yr. I would see *rice* hanging on their butt hairs and would have to have them wormed because of tapeworm. Since being on raw, I keep looking but do not see any worms in their stool or *rice* around their back ends! I will have them checked when I take them in shortly here too and it will be interesting to see if they have any. They say with a healthy immune system from rawfeeding and no vacc's etc., they should not get worms. Like everything else, parasites thrive in unhealthy dogs.
