Hi everyone, I have a two year old male Jack Russel Terrier. Everytime I take him for a walk he barks at everyone and every dog he sees on the street. It is very frustrating, he pulls, he barks... However, when he is at home he is the sweetest dog ever. I wish I could take him to a doggy park, but his behavior toward other dogs is unecceptable I also have another female Jack Russel 4 years old, and she is very different, never had problems with her. Any tips? I will aprecciate any help for my puppy, Maribel

I have a couple of questions to get some clairification.
1. How long has he been exhibiting this behavior? 2. Do you remember what was going on or anything that happened to him at or around the time it started? (unpleasent experience with a dog, vaccination or other medication, change in diet, etc...) 3. What is your reaction to this behavior? 4. Is he altered or intact?. 5. Have you tried any type of training collar on him?

To stop the behavior, you simply.....stop it! ;D
On walks, have your dog walk right at your side, or preferably, alittle behind you....not out in front of you, which is a dominant position and tells him he is in control of things. When he sees another dog, or person, distract him and show him that pulling/barking is a no-no by saving "shhhhhhht," and giving a pop (quick pull and release) with the leash. Do this everytime he starts the behavior and he will soon learn he is not to do this.
