First of all, please read this dogden.proboards21.com/index.cgi?board=Questions&action=display&thread=1079736429This JRT needs some serious boot camp. Start an immediate program of Nothing in Life is Free. Secondly, growling is a serious signal that he is putting you back in your place, and if ignored, can lead to a bite. Don't push him when he's growling, and don't get into a battle of will against him. A strict following of NILIF will help sort out who gets to growl and who doesn't. Ok, now that the imediate important stuff is out of the way, some more information will give the people here give you a better answer: in what situations does he growl at you? Food, toys, space? please describe your family situation, and are there any other pets how much training have you done?

We have no other pets, he growls at me when I go out of the house ( he sometimes gets into his bed to growl at me when I leave) and also my son, but does not growl at my wife, he is obedient most of the time, IE when the door is open he wont go out unless we say, he is off the lead when we take him over the fields and he always comes back when we call, he always brings his ball back to be thown, he follows my wife like a shadow and sits with her on the sofa even if he is asleep if my wife gets up he goes too.
