For those of you who may remember from Rocky's site, I mentioned that my son's friend (& neighbor) had gotten a new puppy after having to put their not-so-old lab down (for some reason, Willow's comment of the possitive training thread made me think of this ) Any way, if you remember, they got a Rottie rescue. (they were told purebred, but as he grew it looked like probably not. His back fur started to curl??? . I always suspected some pit in there as well ). They had this puppy for about a month. And he was going to a REAL problem. At 3 months he bit me (NOT a puppy nip. I know the difference ) on the shoulder when I picked him up out of my flower bed. He also bit the dad twice when Dad reached for the food bowl. The update is that they took the puppy back to the Humane Society, who THEN docked his tail and removed his dew claws and rehomed him again. He was, honestly, the CUTEST puppy I've probably ever seen. But I don't think he will ever be a good family member. He was abused as a baby (cigarette burns left scars , who knows what else) and undoubtedly bred for aggression (he was a Detroit City rescue. I've wondered if it made the Animal Planet Program when the found the litter). I suspect this is his last chance and I just hope the family has no children
And the next chapter in the family's dog history is that they now have a black lab. About 2. Friends of theirs gave it to them. And I have NEVER seen or heard of a dog so obsessed with a frisbee . It's actually bizarre to watch. The dog will retrieve it for hours. Nothing will distract him, not food, another dog, loud noise, nothing. There is no interaction possible with this dog other than throwing the frisbee.
Anyway, for those of you who care (and those of you who don't ) there you have it. ;D
