What a great story. I have always wished that I would meet someone that would want to go walking with me and my dog but with Reign, people wouldn't come within a block of us and now with Petey they shy away too. That's great that you made a friend!!

That IS a great story ;D Why don't I ever meet new friends that way That is what I thought too. But it is me, not the dog. I would walk Reign in a heel and a passerby would say are you sure you have him. I would say, of course I have him plus he would never hurt you. Most of the people around me have small dogs and they aren’t interested in forming a doggie friendship with me. And my dog is better behaved. Petey is now so great on leash. But the problem is that even though I will be 25 this year, people say I look like a 16 year old. So people think I won't be able to handle the dog if it gets ugly. If they only knew. When Brian walks Petey he constantly gets people with dogs who say to him is your dog friendly...wanting to meet. The irony is that I have more control over the darn dog than he has. So I have no doggie friends nearby. Even the girl dog that was loose and ran to Petey hasn’t been back. So your story touched me.

What a great story Ann , and how great are you to stop and help someone out like that ! Did you warn her about Blade the Baby Killer ? Tell her to leave the kid home if you're getting together ! And Nicki, I think it sucks that the nabes aren't very dog social , maybe it's a wee bit of envy , since Petey is well behaved and their little mopbutts aren't! And BTW, I LOVE the new pic of Petey, I had no idea he had those satellite dishes on his head !

Ann,
It sounds like you were in the right place at the right time....the GSD sounds wonderful...I hope things work out in your K9 walks with this lady...
Nicki,
Move out this way, I'll go walking with you and Petey anytime...hahahahahaa...
Seriously though, given Petey's looks and knowing how peope pick up thier little dogs and kids and cross the street when they see me and Rocky coming, I understand what you are talking about. I just want to say, it may not always work out that you have someone to walk the dogs with and talk too.
Don't be feelin' blah...I just have learned, and I really mean this, to enjoy the walks with Rocky...he's just bouncing around getting frisky and just zooming when we're out...its definitely fun watching him...when he settles down, we work some OB in close quarters and then finish off with some more chasing and zooming...of course, if someone is coming along, I'll leash him up and I can see he's disappointed (yeah, I can say that) but then we'll do a bit more and get on home..
I'm just saying, in a long way, enjoy those times with Petey..if you eventually find a co-dog walker friend, great, but don't be blah about spending some time with your bud.
-Richard
