I am off to Cincy to pick up my first foster. Her name is Gracie Good Girl...but by all accounts - not a very good girl. She a 3 year old unruly BC mix with desperate need of a job and some basic training. I will post more info and pic when I get a chance!

Excellent! Now try not to break the first rule of fostering, "Thou shall not covet and keep thy foster dog" ! Keep us updated for sure!

OMG, how beautiful!! How in the world are you not going to want to keep her. How are your two getting along with her.

My two are getting along pretty well - I did the intros slow and out front. Last night she stuck her nose right up to Elvis's nose and he curled his lips all the way back to his ears! I have never seen him do that before and Clarke and I just started laughing at him and that was the end of it. Her and Kylie are doing alot of play bowing and running and just a little bit of growling here and there but they stop as soon as I go AHHHHH! and they are doing long downs together already too!

Well she already knows to wait at the door, wait for her meal, she knows sit and down, yesterday she learned lets go and leave it! I am using the prong for walking but barely had to tug it at all and she is walking like a perfect lady. It was nice to have though because she self corrected when lunging at a squirrel and gave me a great opportunity to teach "leave it"....
She has no idea how to play though and it is kind of sad. I am going to take her to the park today with Kylie and tether her to a nearby tree to watch us play - I hope that helps.
I am really dumbfounded - there is no unruliness at all just a general feeling that she wants to please but doesn't have a clue what to do - so I am giving her lots of structure via NILIF and she seems to really dig that.

I'm not the least bit surprised, Amyjo! It happened all the time in the 3 rescue's I was in. All the dog needed was some time spent with them to show them what is expected of them! I like that term your husband came up with and will have to remember that! ;D Unfortunately, that is usually always the case.

Isn't it funny the things dogs do when they first meet? ;D
My sister came over the other day again with her MinPin, Max. He's a pest and wants every other dog to play with him. My dogs don't really want anything to do with other dogs, period, and after the initial get acquainted sniff, they ignore them. My sis and I laughed so hard, because Max got on his hind legs right in Pups face and was licking his eyes (my sis says Max does that to her, too in the morning to get her attention and get her up!). Pup just stood there taking it! It was so cute!!!
I forgot to add in my first post that Gracie is sooo beautiful! I want her!!!! ;D

Can anybody help me with her coat? - I never had a dog with a coat like this....It is really really really thick and fluffy and I cannot get a brush through it... I had to cut her butt hair because It was matted and shedding massively and I couldn't brush out the loose hair....

Ok I can help with the coat Get an undercoat rake. Make sure it is the rubber tiped one and not the plastic. I works great for getting that under fluff cleaned out and makes their coats much easier to manage. I would also get a good slicker brush, and bristle brush. In no time at all you will have her looking GREAT! I think the sani shave is a good idea for now and you might want to keep that hair shorter anyway She is such a pretty girl

Thanks Sibemom for all the coat tips - I am going to go tonight and try to get all those brushes!
This girl is really special - it is going to be hard not to keep her - she is really coming out of her shell and following me everywhere - she is very unobtrusive about it... I have been working all day and she is just there whenever I look - but never in my way.
I put her in a down in the backyard and let her watch Kyie and I play fetch - then I left Kylie out back and brought Gracie in the house and we played a little fetch with a soft squeaker ball....she his a pro already - doesn't have alot of drive to do it but is happy to do it because it makes me happy. I was told she couldn't do this.... so either Kylie is a REALLY good teacher or little Gracie just never got the chance to show her stuff...
