Well yeah! I sold a mirror at the gallery yesterday!!! Whooo hooo!! AND I just finished a custom job that will be delivered tonight. ALSO tonight I am going to a marketing party with 10 or so mirrors - I am very nervous because I am afraid of face to face rejection. I have a tension headache and an upset stomach but I am excited! Wish me luck - I need it!

Good luck Amyjo. Even though you really don't need it. Your work is spectacular. What is a marketing party.

Marketing party is like pampered chef or candlelite or any of those where a woman invites a bunch of people to her house and they are all supposed to buy something!

You will do great ;D You do the best work!
Don't worry about rejection Amyjo. If people wouldn't happen to buy them it could be for lots of reasons. It doesn't mean they don't like your work. It has to fit the themes or colors in their houses a lot of times too.
Another thing is that you could ask them for suggestions on your next pieces or something? Maybe if you got some ideas on what they'd be looking for they will be more likely to buy even more from you??

I'm still in love with that indigo table you did a few months back but it would never go in my house.

Amyjo, with a talent like yours, you don't need luck! And remember the old saying, the worst they can say is NO, and if they do, they's stoopid ;D!

You'll knock 'em dead with your talent and your personality...let your artwork do the talking for you...and you just say, "will that be cash or visa?"

Well - I sold one big one. The woman who had the party told me to pick one out for her and tell her where to hang it ;D...I hung it at the top of her steps under a really great light... I had a whole bunch of small ones too - but everybody kept saying they didn't "go" with their decor But that they LOVED everything....I passed out a lot of cards and some people were interested in custom work in the future. I had so many different things though and I guess I just have a different point of view - I mean especially if it is a small piece that I really like - I don't think it has to "match" my stuff perfectly...but thats just me! Anyway - some lessons learned - so the next one will be better. Man I need to improve my schmoozing and sales skills! Thanks for all your kind words and support! Amy

Well it is a good start...and you know where to shine and polish the presentation for the next show so just go and have fun with it...
re the "doesn't go with my decor" routine...indeed that sounds odd doesn't it...sometimes something a bit different is what brings a room together (at least that is what I see on all the home improvement shows!!).....

re the "doesn't go with my decor" routine...indeed that sounds odd doesn't it...sometimes something a bit different is what brings a room together (at least that is what I see on all the home improvement shows!!)..... Do you watch *home Improvement* shows or things like *Divine Design* and *Decorating Sense*? ;D HGTV is one of my favorite channels and my friend from Mt. and I still laugh about the time we were visiting my oldest son and family and happily watching *this old house* or something similar on t.v. and my daughter in law walked into the room, looked at the t.v. and said, "You don't want to watch THIS do you?" and switched the channel!!! Linda and I looked at each other and both had such looks on our faces!!! Anyway, sorry....I rambled off the subject here again.... . The way I look at it as far as decorating goes, is that *anything goes*, and one thing I love and have in two of the bedrooms is a rustic decor with lace curtains.

Amyjo, don't take it personally because your pieces are really beautiful. I think that people just don't like parting with their $$$$. I bet if you offered it for free it would go splendidly with their decor. ;D
