Hello all,
I figured I would take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Adam and my girlfriend Kelly and I own a house in Methuen, MA (about 20 miles north of Boston).
I am not necessarily new. I was a lurker for quite awhile last year (all reading, no posting), but our dog Tahoe passed away last spring and I have not been on the forums since then.
After a year of grieving, we finally decided that we were ready for a new dog. We recently adopted a puppy, a Yellow Lab/German Shepherd mix. His name is Charlie. He is very cute, but a little stubborn. I can see now that he is going to be a handful in the future, so we are trying to take the proper steps at a young age to raise a nice, obedient dog. We understand that it takes a lot of work and a lot of patience, but we are prepared for it.
I have posted a few times in the last week since we got him, mostly about crate training . We started crate training on day 2 and he is getting better every day. Housebreaking is next, but we found out recently that he has a bacterial infection, so we're taking it slow until he feels better.
From what I have seen on these forums, most of the people are fanatical about their dogs (as we are!), so I am very happy that we were able to find a group of like minded people who share information as openly as everyone here. This is a great resource and I can see now that it is going to be very helpful for us (and anyone else) who wants to do right by their dog.
So I will probably be posting a million questions in the future. I guess it's better to ask too many than not enough!
