I have been lurking here since I got a new pup! He is a 3 month old Lab and Poodle mix. I will explain why I chose this mix at a later time! I also have a 6 year old, beautiful, well trained, 110lb GSD. The reason I joined this forum, is because my new pup thrives on training and I was looking for new training ideas. I am experienced at obedience training at a normal pet owner level, I have owned and OB trained, a Dob, Rot and my GSD. I realize it is the ground work for all dogs, but what next? I must admit I get bored with the same OB training! Anyway that is why I joined, hoping to meet some new friends and get some new, challenging, training ideas!
Thank you, Denise

There are heaps of other training to do beyond basic obedience - tricks, agility - when he's older - , flyball, tracking, retrieving trials . . . imagination and a love of doing things with your dog is all you need.
Welcome to the board, and thanks for introducing yourself.

Thank you all for such a friendly and warm welcome! I am sure I am gonna enjoy this site! I have loved dogs my whole life, my mother says I brought home every stray I ever found as a child! By the way, I am a young 50 year old female! I started OB training when I was 17, I got a Great Dane and German Shorthair mix puppy, who got out of control very quickly! Needless to say, I signed up for my first OB class! The trainer laughed at me, said I was to small to train such a large puppy! Well I did, but I got so involved, I started teaching him to open doors and to fetch a dish of leftovers from my parents home, a half a block away! Anyway he started to go outside whenever he wanted and started stealing things from neighbors and bringing them home! I learned to be careful what you train a dog to do! We were always in trouble! LOL!
Thanks again, Denise
