Hello everyone. I have been a lurker on your boards for just over two months. I found a lot of informative posts here on training and nutrition that has benefited the new member of our family. We have a 5 month female shepX puppy that we purchased from animal rescue. She has been recently spayed and has been on a Raw diet from the age of 4 months. All of my previous dogs have been rather layed back but Sadie is a bundle of energy. She is house trained and knows several commands atm. She does have a few querks about her that he hope to iron out as she gets older. Right now we have been using positive reinforcement and diverting bad behaviors. We plan on introducing her to a prong collar in the next month or so if we can't get some of her bad behaviors under control. We are open to all training methods and plan on incorporating a few different methods into her future training. I would like to get her into agility for confidence building and an energy outlet. I am really not interested in competition but I feel she would enjoy it because she loves learning new commands and running. She seems to take to hand signals faster than verbal commands. Although I have had dogs before I am new to training them. Previously I was happy if they just learned to sit. I am also new to Raw feeding but I know it is the route we want to go with her. I look forward to being part of the community here. ;D

Welcome to the board. Agility can be a great, fun thing to do with your dog just for the sake of doing it. I look forward to hearing more about you and Sadie.

I am terrible with computers but I will see if I can figure out how to post pics of my little muttly. I still have 2 rolls of film I need to develop but I might be able to find a fews pics of her when she was in her 8-10 weeks old butterball stage. My husband and I have really been trying hard to work with her. We have had Chows and Dobermans in the past and none of them had the strong personality that she has. From the first time she nipped and showed her teeth when I was near her food I knew we had to have serious training with her. We have stopped that behavior now. Even during puppy socialization classes she wanted to be the Queen B. She actually grabbed hold of the lip of a spunky lab when he came to close to her. She wanted to dominate all the puppies there. It didn't matter what size the other pup was. We ended up having to keep her on leash during "playtime". She has a lot of faults (jumping/digging/barking/playing too rough with the sheltie) but she is very smart and my husband and I do not plan on giving up on her. She absorbs commands like a sponge. She knows many basic commands and will wait for her release to eat or walk out the front door. The problem we are going to have is during proofing her because of her personality. If she can get away with something she most definately will try.
