Hi everyone. I'm new here. I found this site through The Dog Forum and clicked on SweetSunreyes link. Anyway I just thought I'd say hi and also introduce my pup Beau. He's a Standard Poodle. He's 16 weeks old now. This pic was taken a 12 weeks

Hi Rick- Welcome to the forum. Beau is beautiful. My grandmother had a standard poodle, they are an awesome breed.

Yeah they are great dogs. He's my second. My first, Roxy, passed away about four months ago at age 14. She was such a great dog that now there is no other breed for me. That and my wife and son have allergies. Plans for Beau? Other than being the family love hound? I don't know. We'll see

Welcome Rick! ;D Beau is BEAUTIFUL! He looks so big for 12 weeks old. Maybe it's just the way the picture was shot. His paws look huge too. He looks like a very well mannered boy!

Thanks for the welcome.
At this point, 16 weeks, Beau is 20 inches at the shoulder and about 30 pounds.
His paws are big. They're bigger than Roxies were when she was full grown.
He is a very well mannered pup. He's very much within himself. Calm and confident. He's not one of those pups that's trying to go in ten different directions at the same time. We're very happy with him.

I had heard years ago that there was a Poodle team at the Ididerrod (SP). I never found out for sure but that sure would be a site wouldn't it? I mean they might not come in first but just think of the style points. ;D

You know now that you say it I think your right. I did read something about a team with poodles, and those crosses they call DOODLE DOGS I could see that Of course the style points would rank up because what would look better in a dog parka then a poodle ;D

I'd think they'd freeze to death! It doesn't seem like they'd have enough hair to make that long of a competition in that kind of weather.

I recently heard that in the 1990 Ididerod(SP?) a poodle team came in second. Maybe some one could check on that. The Poodle has a really thick coat. My Roxy would go out for hours in the snow. She was so well insulated that any snow that landed on her wouldn't melt and the hair close to the skin would stay dry. Granted I'm not talking Alaska type cold but still, that's pretty good
