The Blue Mountains Dog Training Club held its annual Obedience Trial last night. An amazing thing happened in the Novice ring. A woman who had been trialing her German Shepherd for nine years finally obtained her third pass to earn the CD title.
I know Obedience trialing is supposed to be about strengthening the relationship, spending quality time, it's the effort not the result , etc ,etc. --- how many people would have the strength of character to keep trying for so long?
The dog is now officially 'retired'.
I'm completely physically shattered today. We had over 80 dogs in the Open ring where I was stewarding, and it was a loooooooooong hard night. But I have been inspired to go out and do some Obedience work with Finn this morning. ;D

I probably would have given up by that time, in all honesty. Something that took that long, I would either use the excuse that I didn't have what it took to train my dog for the title or would blame it on the fact that my dog didn't enjoy it (which of course could be true, depending on the circumstance). Kudos to her though...thats what I call determination!
