Aussienot, do you have any tips on introducing the chute? I can't get Layla near it, she has a meltdown at the mere sight of it, I've tried treats, going thru it myself (not an attractive sight, may I add ), I'm at a loss as to how to get her to accept it!

I am not Aussienot, but what if you put her in a down and send Loki thru it over and over and over again telling him what a good boy he is and jumping up and down like a loon with happiness?
Also is the "chute" part folded all the way back so it looks like a normal tunnel? and she still freaks?

Also - so you have your own chute so you can bring it in the house? If you do I would put her in the bathroom and then partially close the door on the chute (tunnel part) and then I would put a nice treat outside the bathroom. I do stuff like that to Kylie all the time because she balks at everything the first couple of times - mostly just rebellion I think - not meltdown but same ideer...

8-)I should have open ended that question, mea culpa Amyjo! I didn't realize you did agility too! I'm pretty much a newbie with it, I'm learning with the dogs ;D. Actually, I did send Loki through it with no problems, he got it right away, but she wasn't buying into it . I did try folding back the material, still no go, she freaked and took off (the reason WHY I'm trying agility with her, to get her over her spookiness ). But I'll definetely try the door trick, she's real food motivated, and maybe by bringing into the indoor environment she'll accept it gradually. I'll try it tonight and see what happens ;D.

No mea culpa necessary - I wouldn't say I "do" agility - I "dabble" in agility! Maybe Linda will have some better ideas.
I personally have discovered that I have a rabid Frisbee dog so I am trying to work in some cool moves like hoop jumping etc...with the frisbee thang - I am a sucky frisbee thrower though and I have no idea how to fix THAT!

The chute can be scary to some dogs. This is one of the obstacles where it really helps to have two people to start.
One holds the dog at the entrance, directs the dog into the opening, and most importantly, blocks the entrance once the dog is in.
The owner sits inside the chute near the far end - holding up the fabric with her head, making the chute as open possible, with great treats or toys and does everything necessary to encourage the dog to come.
Let her see daylight at the end - don't let the fabric drape closed - hold it up with stakes if you need to until she feels confortable with the idea.
I found with Sailor that following me in as I crawled through helped to chase away the chute boogieman. Not a pretty sight, but it was necessary.
I also like the idea of putting the chute in a doorway.
