The moles have returned to our yard with a vengeance. Sadie and Elsie have become fascinated by the creatures and have been determined to rid our yard of them since we haven't been able to. The result has been a swirling trench of dirt created by Sadie and Elsie around our yard. I know. I know. Supervision, so they won't dig, is the best solution. However, my husband watches them during the day. Infection has set in after his surgery so he spends 95% of his time on the couch. He can't get around well at all right now. The doctor wants to put him back in the hospital for IV antibiotics and pain medicine. Our pups caught 4 moles last year. They KNOW the treat that lives below the ground so they are very eager to unearth the furry toys. The first time I saw Sadie swallow one I freaked. I just knew those claws where going to get stuck in her intestines. Thank godness they didn't. I have tried just about every home remedy mixture around. Garlic, hot peppers, soap powder..you name it. I avoided a few (like antifreeze) for obvious reasons. I do not want to put the mole traps in the yard so I bought yet ANOTHER product. I am going to try it this weekend. I hope I have better results from this stuff. Another plus is that (if it does work) the moles will seek refuge in our neighbor's yards.

If he was still alive I would send you my old cat Precious. He was excellent at "geting ride of" moles. Often he would leave them as gifts at the front door. Before getting him we had a terrible mole problem. After we got him, he rid the yard of them every 2-3 years when they would dare to try and take it over again.
Lucy is also pretty profesicient at catching critters. I wouldn't worry about them eating them. Precious ate his fair share of them and Lucy has had several and neither had any problems.
