My stafford has developed a haematoma on his earflap. We lanced it last night, thinking it was probably just some kind of blister, and got blood everywhere. The haematoma resealed, and is now refilling.
He's not in pain, unless you touch it. The earflap isn't infected. We think it is probably just the result of trauma from rough play with my flatmate's dog, since they knaw on each other's ears all the time.
Has anyone had experience with these? Should I be concerned enough to take him to the vet, or will it probably just go away by itself like a human blood blister?
Thanks.

If it would not have filled back up I would say just wait and see but since you lanced it and it filled again I think a look from the vet would be a good idea

Thanks Sibemom - it ended up getting really inflamed and sore a day after I posted, so I took him to the vet for surgery. He's now running round the house with one shaven, stitched ear and one fuzzy normal one, looks quite funny!
