Thanks Amyjo for the update...I agree, the GL on Tbone isn't going to solve the problem. With the thyroid test, that will elimate one concern but I would still think it's the handlers who will need to view thier attitudes and techniques as well.
I hope it works out for everyone. The fact that they are taking some action is encouraging too.

I don't think anyone here would say that a head halter is the safest thing to use on such a strong dog and I doubt it will work very well, especially combined with all the feeding, but like you said, at least they are doing something. It's nice to see people try, instead of just give up on the dog.

The gentle leader should never be used as a 'smushing' or neck-pulling solution. The gentle leader is a 'pulling' tool...a quick fix I use for dogs that need exercise but aren't getting it from their owners because they pull them. If this person is smushing the dogs face and craning his neck, it could cause injuries, and isn't teaching the dog anything except that you guys are scary and the owner 'tenses' (pulling the leash) up as you guys walk by. But, like you said, maybe it will work out, who knows? I've had cases where I told the people not to do something, as every trainer and behaviourist would agree with me, just to find it worked out on that specific dog. Embarassing moments... ;D
