I was reading the book "The Dogs Mind" I flipped to the chapter on aggression and I found something interesting to consider with Sage. Wondering if any one has heard of Idiopathic Aggression otherwise knows as Jekyll- hyde syndrome or avalanche of rage? Anyone experienced this disorder? Also wondering if anyone has tried treating it with anti-convulsant drugs? Were they successful in treatment? It explains alot about Sage before she has bitten, and after. I have observed alot of the behavior traits which is described in the book.

I've been wondering what what wrong with my dog and always describe her behaviour as Jekyll-Hyde. She doesn't do it very often but sometimes she suddenly becomes aggressive to me altho what I am doing is nothing that I have not done before. During play she will not let me have her toy to throw. She will eat out of my hand one time and the next time she doesn't want to be touched. She has actually lunged at me. Normally she is very aggressive with anyone other than family. I tried scolding but it did not stop the growling. What is a person to do? I do not trust her anymore.

Hi Mattie,
Has your dog been checked out by a Vet to rule out a physical problem, such as Thyroid?
Another consideration is the vaccines your dog has been given. There is a lot of "controversy" going on between homeopaths and allopathic Vets over this. Homeopaths believe aggression is due to the Rabies vaccine, saying it causes the symptoms of the disease the vaccine is given to prevent and I have been hearing that aggression is being treated very successfully with homeopathic "remedies".

I can attest to what Willow has said. I treated Blade for aggresion issues with a homeopathic treatment and let me tell you from what I saw it DID help. The thing about homepathy is that there is no risk, so if I were you and you think your dog has the jekell hyde syndrom check with a classical homeopath before you think of using the drugs. I know that some of the drugs used to calm aggresion can do damage to other parts of the body, so you might end up with a non aggresive dog but have a major health problem later.

I agree with willow and Sibe (excellent that you had good results with Blade) I use Homeopathic Remedies for first aid. Washington Homeopathic Products. Inc puts out some nice First Aid Animal Rescue Kits. Am very leary about who I consult for Homeopathic remedies concerning a chronic illness that would be deep in the body with many layers to go through, Acute situations such as first aid is so much easier to treat. I really like Magda from the yahoo group Truth about Vaccines she is a true Classical Homeopath by the books and has been very successful in treating the animals with chronic conditions many are vaccine related. Do feel mis use of Homeopathic remedies can cause further damage if not applied correctly in chronic situations. Will be the first to say they work when applied correctly to the individual dog.
