My female is aggressive with food around my male. When I put their food in the kennel I place the bowls far away from each other. She will lay in the middle of the kennel and just growl and glare at him and not let him pass by her to get to his bowl. She will start a fight if he thinks of trying to pass her. I really don't understand this. WE have had each of them since birth and never derpived them of food. Anyone have any advice?

Can you feed them seperatly? I do not expect my dogs to share with each other during meal time. I feed both of mine sperate. Sometimes even if they are not food aggresive with you, they can be towards another dog. I have never had this problem but the best way I can think to stop it is to feed them sperate.

Totally agree...a nice, simple, fast and easy way to curb food aggression.

Food guarding natural dog behavior, and doesn't have to come from being deprived of food. Two dogs will usually work out a smooth heirarchy about their daily behavior together, but there are some 'triggers' that increase the chance of disharmony: Food, toys, bones and owner attention being the main ones.
If you're having no other aggression issues with her, take the easy way out. Remove the stress on both of them and feed them separately.
